I don't know how many of you can even stomach watching Sports Center anymore, though the past week has shed some light, and when i say some i mean a tea spoon of praise for every shovel of hate.. at any rate. whether they like it or not..Espn has continued to cover the irish this week due to the fact we stand alone.

This morning in what appears to me as a self-gratifying move to a certain extent, to show that a good portion of college football fans agree with the invalidness of ND sitting alone at 11-0 and #1 in the BCS..ESPN took it to the polls, surveying 1,025 college football fans of age 18+ and this here are the results..

"of self-described avid college football fans who responded, 42 pct. feel that Notre Dame is overrated at #1"

"38 pct feel that Notre Dame gets too much media attention given their performance"

"52 pct feel Notre Dame's performance has been a major factor in making this college football season more exciting"

head scratching polls.. not the majority has won to this point in a negative way depending how you look at it.. here is what irked me..

"29 pct think Notre Dame will win the national championship
(40pct favoring defending champion Alabama)"

depending how you wanna look at this, 29pct okay, the rest of the country just hates us. you either hate or love em is the good old theory on ND.. but the fact that they highlighted Alabama as the favorite really got me buzzing...

thoughts?

Without thinking too far ahead I have wondered here and there what ESPN will do if ND wins it all... The poll questions should be hilarious

ND winning = good ratings

They couldn't care less except for that fact.

What I am going to love is if/when we win the National Championship my NDhater friends will no longer have the argument of us not doing anything the last 20 years, and will only be left with the conference affiliation one.

Deadspin has been on a roll with ESPN lately. I recommend reading up on what Deadspin has been saying. It'll make you hate ESPN more.

My thoughts? Roughly 40% of the people they polled are complete idiots. Oh and f*ck Walt Disney, f*ck ABC, and f*ck ESPN.

I wish our games vs. OU and USC were at home this year so ABC couldn't profit immensely from the advertising revenue.

Wait a second, they stopped talking about Tebow long enough to discuss something else?

I stopped watching ESPN months back when I couldn't turn the channel on without them all talking about Tebow.

It seems as if every Sportscenter now leads off with the question, "Will Notre Dame lose this weekend? Our experts discuss"

They should just drop the act and start asking "How much do we think Notre Dame will lose by? Our experts discuss." At least that question will live up to their biased standards.

You would think they would like us better considering they cover half our games, GameDay will have been at a quarter of our games, and their ratings for showing us (even against lowly BC) have been freaking HUGE.

Maybe they should not worry about us and let CBS or truTV broadcast our away games...I am sure NBC wouldn't mind picking them up either now. Flutie, Ward, and the other guy really seemed to be having fun being on the sidelines at the home games this year. Ward even got into pitching some of the marshmallows back at the throwers.

I was actually more pleased with the fact that 52% said this season was more exciting b/c we are winning. I don't really care about the other nonsense b/c there will always be bias when it comes to a specific team against another team. But people can't help but enjoy that ND is having the season we are having.

Let's see if they still enjoy it as much in 3 years when we go on consecutive streaks of magnificent seasons, and are back on top for several years in a row.

Unforunately you're going to be wrong. Once the NC is ours, the haters will then say, "They got to face Bama on a down year, or they got to face USC, UM and MSU on a down year, or they got lucky because UO and KSU lost the same weekend." They will look for excuses to jusitfy their bias.

I'm a Colts fan and the knock on Manning was he never won the big one and sure enough, as soon as he won a SB, they were saying he should have won more than one by now.

It will never change, so as they say, "Embrace the Hate."

You know what it is gonna be. If ND happens to win the title, it'll be..."Was Notre Dame really the best team in the country?" "Was Notre Dame the most overrated team to win the BCS title?" blah blah blah.

29% seems like a very fair number... considering the moneyline currently only gives us a 71% chance of getting by USC and you'd have to expect with the projected 10 point underdog to Alabama that we'd have about a 25% chance of winning that game at best.

.25*.71=18% chance of winning the 'ship.... Alabama probably has something like 55% odds right now. Don't know why any rational person would "expect" ND to win the BCS.

Not one thing has changed in all my years of being an Irish fan. Haters and Homers at odds. All the hubbub must mean one thing. Haters cant laugh at the Irish right now. They are waiting for a loss. Lets give em all a big shat sammich to eat.

BCS countdown show Sunday night showed 1 BCS flashback highlight. It was ND v LSU when the Irish got routed w big fat Jamarcus Russel behind (too big to be under) center for L$U. They love to hate. ND just needs to win Sat and move on. Survive and Advance, otherwise the haters will be back in full force.

Embrace the hate it makes each Saturday that much more enjoyable after another great win. In the end it will be real hard for even ESPN to put a spin on a NC.

Pin it all to the noticeboard. Even if ND pastes SC on saturday the excuses will already be out saying barkley was out, kiffin is terrible etc and that ND are paper champions etc. The doubters wont go away until ND beats Bama in the NC.

Well, folks, we still have to prove it to the unwashed masses. The season was complicated and therefore beyond the competence of underdeveloped football minds. The people, other than Notre Dame fans, who think that we're really good, are the ones who understand football, know what defense means, remember what Alabama itself really was [defense with a schedule with holes in it and mediocre offense, yet a champion], and that we ourselves beat Stanford, Oklahoma, and Michigan this season. Those people will know that Notre Dame is real good and if their QB plays well can beat anybody.

The others, the majority, don't know football or are deeply prejudiced [mainly for their own favorite team or conference], and will remember only Pittsburgh, BC, and inconsistent QB play at times. [We must admit that Everett is a GREAT athlete, but not yet a great QB.] So, we still have some proving to do.

But who cares what "they" think? We still have some simple desires of our own, and if we climb the whole mountain, who cares what the losers [literally] down in the low places are howling about? It is to ourselves that there is something left to prove [no one would be as sensitive about the national conversation if we already really knew we would kick Alabama's butt].

But I would caution with this: this team has already "proved" to me that it is a great team with great players and a great staff, and that we are rolling into the near future, regardless of the outcome of the final two games. You won't hear any bitching out of me if they lose either one. I "feel" they'll win a hard game at USC and go to the NC. There... who knows? Kelly will have lots of time to design nefarious deeds.

While I too don't like that our BCS rankings must be approved by Walt Disney before released, this is all one group.

ESPN has always been Notre Dame haters. Their website's recruiting even is biased, they'll originally have a player recruited at 5 stars but when Notre Dame recruits 'em ESPN will basically knock down the ranking to 4 stars.

Lee Corso IMO has been hating us less and less, he used to despise us.

One thing that never changes is Mark May picking against us. Dude said Stanford got robbed on that controversial call without bringing some evidence as to why Stanford got screwed. This was the same guy that flat-out praised the "Bush Push" of 2005 which was actually illegal.

I would love it to see NBC pick up the rights to all Notre Dame's games, not just at home. But on the road as well.

Ehh, It is what it is... Although a "paper champion" ND national championship ring will shine just as much as any other previous national champiosnhip ring...
