I said in the other thread that I think that this will be a tough game for our Irish. They will have to grind out the win. I hope I'm wrong. I'm just nervous as all hell.

I know there is one on Friday, I just can't remember where. I'm searching for it and reaching out to those who would know. I'll let you know if I hear anything or figure out where I saw the message about it.

Thanks a lot!
Well it looks like he answered it >
Now the question is what time is at? 6pm?

I know for sure there is a pep rally on Friday at the Hyatt regency in Garden Grove which is orange county

Awesome mate! Thanks so much. Any guess what time or any info? ..Like is there an admission fee or ticket needed?

He will go Top 3. Not sure why Barkley is garbage all of a sudden to some people. Guy was a legit Heisman contender. Can argue the team let him down in areas due to coaching.

Guy leads the nation in TDs. His sack total is up as are his INTs but nothing can beat his 40 something starts. It goes beyond physical abilities. Mentally is Wittek ready? Doubtful. Not impossible but doubtful. He is already over confident.

I'm with you and Whiskey. Barkley would have been a top 15 pick last year with Luck and RG3. He would be starting on an NFL team right now. He was the overwhelming preseason favorite for the Heisman and has had a great career at USC. Despite his teams struggles, he has also has some big games this year. He is their undisputed leader and the soul of their team. Regardless of whether Wittick comes out and is really good, there is no way that he is a bigger difference maker than Barkley.

There is only one reason why any of us should rather see Barkley, and that would be to beat that smug-@ss grin off a great USC QB that never lost to us. It's a shame our seniors don't get that opportunity.

SportsCenter has a segment coming up titled "USC QB Makes Guarantee." Anyone know what that's about? Should be on in a couple minutes.

USC QB Max Wittek guarantees defeat of Notre Dame

4:12PM EST November 20. 2012 - USC redshirt freshman quarterback Max Wittek isn't shying away from Saturday's big stage. In fact, Matt Barkley's injury replacement is thinking big: Wittek is guaranteeing a win against Notre Dame.

"We're going to win this ballgame," Wittek said of the Trojans' season-ending date with the Fighting Irish in an interview with an ESPN Radio affiliate in Los Angeles.

As if Saturday's game needed another story line.

BARKLEY OUT: USC QB's shoulder injury will keep him out against the Irish

Wittek is stepping in for Barkley, who suffered a potentially season-ending shoulder injury during Saturday's 38-28 loss to UCLA. Wittek has completed eight of nine passes this season for 95 yards, including all three of his attempts for 40 yards during the fourth quarter against the Bruins.

Wittek is expected to battle with incoming freshman Max Browne for the starting job in 2013, after Barkley moves on to the NFL, so this week's experience might come in handy.

A full transcript of Wittek's comment:

"We haven't got the full game plan yet, but from what I can tell, we're going to play our offense, whatever coach (Lane) Kiffin feels comfortable giving me. If he wants to air it out, let's air it out. If he wants to pound it on the ground, let's do that. Like I said, I'm going to go out there, I'm going to play within myself, within the system, and we're going to win this ballgame."
Despite his lack of experience, Wittek is talking like a seasoned veteran. "You really can't ask for a better opportunity to show what you've got," he told Rich Hammond of The Orange County Register.

But beware: Notre Dame ranks sixth nationally in total defense, first in scoring defense and 11th in pass efficiency defense. What will Manti Te'o and friends think of Wittek's guarantee? (Personally, I love his confidence.)

I feel like this is a bit of an overstatement. Barkley will get drafted. There is no way he has been a net-negative for the Trojans this season.

He will go Top 3. Not sure why Barkley is garbage all of a sudden to some people. Guy was a legit Heisman contender. Can argue the team let him down in areas due to coaching.

Ugh I'm not being clear. I don't think he's a net-negative or that he's garbage. I just think that this year he's been the type of player who can not only win a game for you but also lose one for you with occasional, ill-timed bad judgment. I'm delighted Barkley's out and I'm not particularly scared of Wittek, but I would definitely be happier if Marqise Lee were the one out for this game. He's got explosive talent and chances of him making a big mistake to hurt his team are slimmer.

Not to be argumentative. I get that Barkley is a future high draft pick, that Max Wittek likely won't be able to run USC's offense as effectively. Just saying that I think it's up and down with Barkley, and when you play QB a down day can be the difference.

I'm sure that there was a reason, so lets not discuss it until after the game?

I would love to know after that though.

I'm just nervous as all hell.

That's how I've felt every game since BC in '93. Anger management comes in fourth, suppressed elation fifth. Expectation and hopeful anticipation each and every year are first and second.

I can only hope that 1974 and 2011 are not repeated.

Here's the thing fellas. This week is huge. It's the biggest USC game in my life of 30 years. That should tell you something. Lets stick together, remember that we are brothers and think positive thoughts.

Believe that we win. Believe that we are the best. Believe in the heart and souls of the young men that suit up in the Blue & Gold.

I think this is the biggest ND game in my life as a fan... I'd say the most recent games that eclipse this one would have to be the 88 Miami and SC games... but I became a fan in 89...

now if they win this one, obviously it gets passed up by the title game.

I view this post as extremely positive. I'd like to rep but I can't.

As many have said...what was he going to say; however I have found that the people who usually guarantee a win or talk **** are scared showing false bravado, too stupid or are flat out gamers...which one will he be? I guess we will find out....regardless I want to see lame kiffin crying on the sideline....and ran into this USC grad at the gym today....witteck is brett farve cannon...peyton manning combined into 1...we have to win

I feel another "ugly" win coming on as well. I mean for my sanity I hope it's a blowout but I feel like we'll have to grind it out and fight for the win.

I think a lot of people fall into the trap of "WE are gonna kill it" on tuesday, then peak too early and take themselves out by game time... we'll see.

They are already talking about a QB battle with Max Browne. Maybe that's just talk but I doubt it. This was Barkley's team. You gotta worry about timing, reading the defense pre-snap, making the right decision at the right time, etc. Barkley has had 4 years to prepare. Physically I think it's almost a push maybe a slight edge to Wittek but mentally, Barkley is so far advanced.

I've seen some bring up Kevin Hogan and the job he has done. Hogan got his first real game action against Colorado and the Oregon game was won by the defense. In 89 passes, he already has 3 INT. Young guys make mistakes regardless of talent. Wittek is no different.

The crazy thing is.... would anyone really be surprised if Barkley ran out and started?

Exactly.

I don't even think our players would be surprised.

They on the other hand, will be surprised when they meet our front 7.

Anticipate or not.

This is for the chance of brining it all home.

ONLY reason I'm really nervous about this game is last year. As much sh*t as we give Kiffin, he outcoached Kelly handily last year. Hopefully Kelly comes in with a good game plan and allows our boys to make plays. All we need is a W.

They outhit us last year. Tuitt was pushed around by their right guard and tackle. Their 5th yr Sr. Ellison pounded our linebackers as a fullback and pushed around our OLB's as a TE. Their 5th yr Sr. Kalil caved in KLM at times and got outside and sealed the inside on sweeps. Their center handled Nix. Their entire line is back except Kalil, but they miss him and Ellison who was a very versatile blocker at FB and TE.

Defensively, they had tons of Sr and 5th year experienced depth in their front 7 that is now gone: Nick Perry, Devon Kennard, Christian Tupou and Chris Galippo were critical to their defensive rotation. They don't have the experienced depth they had last year.
