I think this class needs another TE anyways. Eifert will be gone. Koyack seems to be underachieving based on his potential. Niklas seems to be next in line to get the most reps next year. However Welch gets another year of eligibility. Either way, that leaves 4 TEs on the roster including Mike. Like someone mentioned before, if BK continues to utilize his TEs in multiples, we need the extra bodies.

Note: I would not be totally heartbroken if the kid chooses he's more comfortable somewhere else, we fill his spot with someone of a different position, then corey robinson grows into a TE...just sayin

Isn't Rabasa in the middle?

He was listed at ILB last year, but he is listed at OLB this year. Most people seem to think (and I agree) that he will move back inside next year for depth, with Manti graduating. He just doesn't really have the length that we seem to like in our OLBs. But who knows ... he could be another Utupo, who has an ILB body but not an ILB game.

I had Mattingly pegged as a TE for awhile. We have Jaylon, Dougy, Mike and Alex in this class already. Mattingly is the the only one of the group who I can actually see being a good fit for TE. Oh and Im calling Randolph Dougy for now on.

I want to keep this class intact and not have any decommits. That would be huge and send a message to future recruits. That said, if Danny wants to go play TE at Udub, go for it. It's not like he won't be replaced.

Going to be honest and say I would love to have a class with a 0% decommit rate, but this isn't going to keep me up at night or anything.

Me too brother. My only concern was wether mattingly would want to switch to te. This is perfect.

I'd still like to keep Mattingly, just don't think we need another TE. I guess if Welch can't stay healthy we might.

I don't understand this, what you call, Dougy. Could you, perhaps, teach me how to Dougy?

On a serious note. I don't want to lose him. He is a freak athlete for his size. And like someone said previously, I think BK will want to stay with these 2-3 TE sets and Mattingly can provide this for them. I know we have Matuska on board if we really want a big bodied TE to block, but Mattingly would be a mismatch. I'm really high on this fella.

I kind of always envisioned him coming in as a TE anyway. To me Randolph sealed that up. Hope he sticks and will definitely be disappointed if he flips, very talented young man!

It was from this:

“@LarsHanson: Huge news #NotreDame commit LB Danny Mattingly (Spokane,Wash./Mead) has DECOMMITTED”

“@LarsHanson: @MCWayne22 Yep, per his close friend and a fellow #Washington commit. Possibly”

Since when do we doubt Sapp?

Danny hasn't decommitted and sounded pissed when Sapp told him about the twitter rumor.

Danny is definitely wavering a little though. Not clear why exactly, unless its just that he wants to play offense, as Sapp said the other day. No other reason given.

Danny is a auperb athlete. Long and rangy, just how Kelly likes 'em.

Plus I made this thread. He must stay.

Usually not a Twitter dummy, but translation? There's no context here.

Lars is the one who originally said he decommitted, the other two I'm guessing replied to him saying it wasn't true. Lars feels pretty confident and says you'll see on signing day.

Danny is still looking around and its starting to seem more and more unlikely he ends up here IMO
