Is there a way to see the locker room of ND? Do you do that on the Friday Tunnel Tour? Sorry if its a dumb question...

are you going for the whole weekend or just sat?

first home pep rally on friday is fun for a first timer. its a tad long winded as it's planned and MC'd by Dillon Hall. there are little skits and speeches. the students are really riled up, usually in some sort of costume or unified look based upon residence halls. its fun to see. then of course the band, the cheerleaders, leprechaun, and of course the team.

but i digress: if you are only going up for sat. i can tell you my dad and i usually head to the stadium about 8-9 am. do our own tailgate for a couple hours. take a walk thru campus--grab a steak sandwich from knights of columbus. we've done the players walk a few times. and we actually brave the bookstore on most saturdays. then head back to our tailgate for about another hour or so.

then we take a walk and meet up on the southside of the stadium for a couple hours. head into the stadium about 2:30.

the short answer is i think you can pretty much do everything you want in about 5 hours, but thats not a lot of "chill time".

Definitely check out the trumpets in the dome about an hour and half before the game. By far my favorite part.

Me too Jimmy! I know I posted this a while back in another thread, but what the heck, it's awesome enough to post again...

Quick question: is it reasonable to try to watch the players walk and the trumpets in the dome? I'm really eager to see the trumpets, and I would suspect you need to arrive early for this?

Going to the Pitt game, driving from out of state and arriving Saturday morning. Any ideas about parking locations/cost around 8-10 a.m. near campus? We don't have a pass, just want to get an idea about how challenging it is.

Also have reservations at Parisis at 8:30 p.m. ...game kicks off at 3:30. Think we'll make it with the traffic? Haven't been to a game since '09.

I am going to my first ND game this weekend against BYU... I am so pumped! My wife bought tickets and we will be traveling from Canada and I had a question... I'd really appreciate some help!

Is 7-7:15 am too early to get to the White lot for parking? I thought I read somewhere it opens at 8am but just am unsure about traffic in South Bend on game day. We'd like to get there early and be able to walk around and take in the sights and sounds.

White Field for general public parking. Exit 77 off the Indiana Toll road, go straight through the light takes you right to it. 25$ a car

Is traffic pretty crazy on game day? What about between like 7:15am-7:30am? Would that be too early?

We'd like to park at White Field and then walk around campus all morning and tour around.

For that early traffic wont be horrible, but better safe than sorry

We got to White Field at 8:30am (with GameDay) and there was ZERO traffic problems. So with a normal home game, there would be even less that early in the morning.

That's the perfect time to get to White Field. That's when we always pulled in and were always in the first row against the gate.

Does anyone know how many rows are next to the tunnel that the players run out of? I'm looking on stubhub and found some tix that might be low enough to get a good look at the players coming onto the field. Me and a best friend are making plans to come up for the Oklahoma game!

Judging from a video I took on the Stadium Tour I would say at least 15 rows.

Police offer advice to football game-day motorists
Dennis Brown August 22, 2013

The realignment of Douglas Road to the north of the University of Notre Dame campus and ongoing road construction in other areas could cause confusion and possible delays while traveling to and from the University on home football game days this season.

Local law enforcement agencies are working collaboratively with the Notre Dame Security Police department to minimize delays, and they encourage motorists to keep the following in mind:

The west end of Douglas Road now connects directly to the exit from the Indiana Toll Road, and to the east Douglas is accessible through two new roundabouts.

Because Douglas is new, GPS systems will not account for the realignment. Motorists should ignore navigation systems and follow police officer directions and signs.

The old Douglas Road has been renamed Moreau Drive from Juniper Road west to the Sacred Heart Parish Center, beyond which the road has been permanently closed.
Douglas Road will be two-way before, during and after games, though there may be temporary closure of east- or westbound flow on Douglas Road during post-game patterns to accommodate traffic safety.
Parking in White Field South will be from Douglas and in White Field North from Juniper.
A shuttle from White Field will begin at 6 a.m. on game days and run continuously until pick-up stops are clear.
ADA-accessible parking for those with state-issued placards is in the D2 North Lot. A shuttle to Gate 4 of the Joyce Center will operate continuously from 6 a.m. until the pick-up area is clear.
South of campus, there is a great deal of construction, with several roads closed, including Twyckenham Drive at South Bend Avenue. Many familiar routes will be closed, and police advise motorists to ignore their navigation systems and follow officer instructions rather than rely on past practices.
Up-to-date traffic information is available before games on Twitter from the Indiana State Police at @ndtraffic. Police advise motorists to, as always, arrive early and be patient during the post-game exodus.

Can anyone help me get from Chicago to South Bend? I'm looking for bus or train, since taxi costs $330 one way. I'm currently staying by O'Hare airport. Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Also look for Coach USA buses. There are some that run from O'Hare straight to South Bend.

I usually just bus it from O'Hare. Simplest way to do it, last time I did it I think it costs about $40... drops you off right at ND. Coach USA.

Here's a link: going to and from on game day would cost you $73 round trip. Tri State Coach / United Limo | O'Hare Airport

Ok thanks guys! Every time I searched on CoachUSA's site I just went with Chicago and not O'Hare.

The bus from O'Hare to ND is definitely your best bet from a convenience standpoint if you are just trying to get to ND.

Not sure when you are getting in and whether you want to spend any time in Chicago though ... if you want to kill some time in Chicago before heading to South Bend, then I'd go with RackEm's suggestion. CTA Blue Line in to the city, where you can eat and drink and hang out for a while, then South Shore Line to the SB airport. Should be easy to get to campus from there via cab.
