He is struggling w/ the Jayhawks, and yes it appears that Coach Kelly was right, he's just missing something as a Quarterback. Everything I have heard, and read though points to him being everything a ND guy is supposed to be off the field, which really should be more important. I really hope Dayne steps up and helps KU pull an upset or two, but even if he doesn't I hope he goes out and has a very successful career in whatever field he chooses.

Wasn't Crist involved in the St. Baldricks and other causes. He might have not been the greatest quarterback, but he always seem like a good guy. Exactly a "Notre Dame" guy.

BGIF and Wooly know my stance. Dont get me wrong he did alot of good for the community but there are somethings that a leader or a "ND man" do out of respect and he failed at that.

Ouch, neg repped for this, OutintheBend? It's not like I made it up or was trolling.

Now, if TP knows about stuff that's not public knowledge that makes him say Crist isn't a Notre Dame guy, that's fine, I won't argue; I just happened to remember reading this article last winter and I thought it was funny that Crist explicitly referred to himself as a Notre Dame guy. I don't see why I should be neg repped for pointing that out.

Sounds like we all need a bye week.

This is a understandable dilemma because some people know things others don't, yet those things are "awkward" and the knower feels that no good can be served by spewing it out there in public. My assessment of this is that Dayne's just fine as a Notre Dame man, but had "problems" with Coach and the normal chain-of-command ways of dealing with that. Therefore he wasn't a "Kelly man" all the time, and different persons will see that chink in his armor as defeating the label "Notre Dame man" or not.

On another note: I see no reason why EMCEE should have gotten a neg rep, so I'm sending him a 1700+ pound "green curative" for that. Go and be well, young man.

As usual tactfully phrased.

As for the "green curative", do NDOM and the DEA know you're dispensing? A
"California guy" ?

( I repped emcee as well for the appropos link)

He can be both. ND guy, good person, yada yada yada....

But he's terrible.

Best of luck to him. But he's KU's problem, not ours.

especially about on crist, who did absolutley nothing on the field for us, and is no longer even here? if you cant elaborate, then its better to have said nothing at all IMHO. you are a very respected and trusted poster here and i expected more from you tbqh. bad form this time tp

Ah, Crist had surgery on both knees due to playing on the field for us.

There's lots that goes on in college football that doesn't make the news nor the internet grist mill. During Davie's term I had a source on staff. I only posted a fraction of what I was told. Sometimes I only posted a cryptic comment like TPO's simply to note that there's more than what the public sees, hears, conjectures, or are posting on a website.

I understand TP's perspective and the reason for posting as he did. This isn't a presidential tax return nor a birth certificate. Those have both been revealed and both remain in controversy.

BS. I don't even want to know what you "know", but this comment is not cool. You have proven to be right numerous times, but degrading a 22 y/o, who still has much to learn in life is cr@ppy, and bad form.

Updated. Apparently Crist was benched later in the game against Oklahoma State in favor of a redshirt freshman quarterback. Poor Dayne...

Its crazy to think this was supposed to be Dayne's third season as the starter for Notre Dame. It's wild how fortunes can change.

Deju vu all over again. No, now that I think about it, in the previous scenario he was replaced by a TRUE freshman.

I wonder if the next time he's in South Bend, if he'll go over to Kelly's house with the ND KU guys to complain about Weis.

History does have a way about repeating itself.

HOWEVER.... this is a rare strong data point vindicating Kelly's ability to assess a quarterback "going south" and rapidly cutting our losses [almost literally]. All those guys thinking that they knew better than Coach should just keep their Kelly criticisms behind their teeth.

Exactly.

Weis eating his pride? That says something.
