Tomorrow is going to suck! I have to work 10am to 1030pm tomorrow and I have been thinking all day today, on my day off, that today is Friday.

Any ideas on how to make tomorrow go by fast guys?

I think theres been a lot of talk about this during post game speeches by Kelly and in interviews. The coaches are doing a good job trying to keep the energy high, yet keep the kids on the ground. Have to remember that rankings mean nothing until the regular season is over, just have to win baby.

I understand. Could you imagine being a 20 yr old on a football team that everyone was saying ND is overrated, they can't win in soth bend anymore. And 5 Weeks later you are 5-0 and number 7 ranked in the country. Not going to lie if thats me at 20 i am going crazy.

Whatever.... we have very small chance of that.... assume 80% chance vs. Stanford, 85% vs. BYU, 95% against the crappy teams, and a coin flip against Oklahoma/USC... chances of us going undefeated = ~15%. Those are fair to generous odds as well...

10+ wins is probable if you assume the games we would drop would be the "expected ones"... we've got got near a 60% chance of winning the other 5 games. Anyone actually expecting 12-0 is crazy.

Mark May just picked Stanford because every team we've played has 'imploded' during our games. AKA, we've been lucky.

Get drunk. Works like a charm.

Uh, what?

What's confusing? Mark May just picked us to lose to Stanford on ESPN with Griese (Griese picked ND to win). Pointed to the fact that the teams we've play have beaten themselves.

you're crazy. I'm expecting it. The only real threats on the schedule are Stanford, Oklahoma, and $C and all 3 look beatable. Take your fancy math and go play lacrosse.

lol he had quoted one guy referencing May saying we could run the table, then below that quoted you saying he picked against us (again).

conflicting pieces of information

May said we could run the table this year, and then picked against us. That's what is moderately confusing. Logically, I understand it, but sense-wise, I don't get it. Oh well.

It's not conflicting. If he said "ND will win the NC" then picked us to lose, it'd be conflicting. He just said it's possible.

He's just being a little bitch, saying now that 'it's possible that we win out' so he can protect himself in case we do, but still picking us to lose at the same time.

Sarcasm? Or just really stupid? I'm guessing sarcasm... your rep bar worries me though.

It's 2012. Are there honestly people who don't realize that Mark May vs. Lou Holtz in predictions is a shtick and he doesn't actually hate Notre Dame or anything? It's because it makes for an interesting and funny segment and he plays it very well.

Agreed.

Devil's advocate: of the "crappy team" stretch between Oklahoma and Southern Cal, Notre Dame went 3-0 but won by a combined 12 points. The Irish didn't roll any of those teams. Pittsburgh has always kept it close with Kelly; he's never beaten them by more than a touchdown.

I think Notre Dame should destroy them all, but history tells us to be cautious. That's the life of a Notre Dame fan. :(

I realize it's shtick, but I also think Mark May hates Notre Dame as much as Lou loves them.

Devil's advocate's devil's advocate: None of those teams have scored on the 2012 team, and the 2011 team is completely inconsequential to the 2012 team. We've seen that in the Michigan game. Just a different mindset between the 2 teams.

This is totally true. May does hate ND and has LOVED rubbing it into Lou's face whenever ND lost a big game. The guy is a jerk.

But then again, there are VERY FEW announcers on there without some sort of ND bias.

The only team that Lou loves almost as much as ND is S. Carolina because of the connection he has with Spurrier and his wife, who were there to support Beth and Lou when Beth was diagnosed with cancer.

No, he didn't predict ND or anyone else to go undefeated. Those Oct 6 Sagarin ratings make ND the favorite against any 2012 opponent on their schedule if they played this week.

Those ratings are dynamic and change from week to week so they're only good that week. USC and OU could close the gap over the next few weeks.

Some ranking services run simulations of all the games each week. Sagarin does not do that. He works from Wins and Losses, Margin of Victory, and S.O.S.

If Barkley was unable to play against ND because of injury, USC's Sagarin rating wouldn't change but the Vegas line would jump.

Feldman Likes The Irish To Win

Feldman Likes The Irish To Win

Picks: Vols to knock off MSU; Gamecocks, Irish keep rolling - CBSSports.com

Notre Dame 23, Stanford 10: Two physical teams meet up in South Bend with three really good tight ends on display. The Irish might be suspect in the secondary, but Stanford, especially without its top wideout Ty Montgomery, isn't built right now to take full advantage. The Irish do have more weapons on offense
