I hope it does too. I hate when people speculate about these kids. Everyone should know that these kids are the first ones to read these blogs. When they go off on a negative tangent it does taint their opinion of the fan base. I would try to keep things positive unless I wanted a 17 year old to get upset while this should be the most exciting time of their life. Funny how most of the people on these blogs never competed at this level. Opinions are like belly buttons....everyone's got one.

No question. But whether Alex plays for ND or Florida, he's going to get attention for the next four or five years, and hopefully longer. Fans are the same everywhere. If Alex were a UF recruit and he had just visited ND, UF fans would be talking about it.

Nobody here is (or at least shouldn't be) taking shots at Alex as a person. But our perspective is obviously an ND perspective. Alex seems like an ND type of kid. He has an unbelievable opportunity to inherit a position from a legend, and he gave his word that he'd play at ND. No matter what Alex does, nobody here is going to make an AA voodoo doll. But people here do want to believe that once you give your word its game over.

Well perhaps if you were in his shoes you would want to put your eggs in more than one basket. The ND staff is hosting another ILB from Hawaii this weekend.on an official visit no less....committed to Stanford & heard it through a reliable source a silent commit to ND. With all of Alex's options he doesn't need to be sloppy seconds.

WHAT?

I haven't seen any real slamming of Alex. People have gotten a little anxious(Not to much relaly) but on the whole compared to last year this is mellow as heck. No matter what I wish Alex well, I hope it is at ND but if it isn't I hold no ill feeling toward him. He has to what is right for him and his family.

Now onto the Isaac Savaiinaea being silent I have my doubts on that. But welcome to the board.

I am sure ray Lewis and Brian urlacher Would love to play together :) if this is so that would be unbelievable for Isaac and Alex and notre dame. North carolina had 8 or 9 of the starting 11 get drafted a few years ago. Welcome to the board and hope you continue to share any insight.

Alex is NOT sloppy seconds. When you're first to commit and the staff LOVES you, how is that sloppy seconds???

Also, the staff HAS to have a back-up plan. Alex is obviously intrigued by FL. Do you think it would be smart for the staff to put all their eggs in the basket of a kid who is flirting (and visiting) with another school?

Read my earlier post about Alex. I REALLY want him to be Irish. I mean badly. Kid is an absolute stud, has great size but can play really well in space with that size. But don't lay blame at the feet of the Irish staff for doing the EXACT same thing Alex is doing (only they are doing it as a result of Alex's non-commitment to the Irish). We've been burned lots of times by guys committing to us and flipping, while we are left holding the bag with no back-up plan...

+1. The staff and the fan base all want Alex. But what happens is entirely up to Alex. If he would agree to stop visiting other schools, i.e. Florida, the staff would stop recruiting linebackers. As long as he continues to visit, ND will continue to recruit. It is that simple, and entirely Alex's responsibility.

HaHa, that is hilarious. Yeah I'm sure these 17 year olds are checking every blog they can and making a decision on where their going to go to school based on the negative/positive feedback they read on 'BLOGS'. I'm sure academics, playing time, coaching, style of play, distance from home, people you know, campus life, all have nothing to do with this.

Alright, so everyone put on a happy face during recruiting season, or we're going to lose every recruit we have!

Thanks for the heads up Joe Jones. You must have been one of those 17 year old's checking blog sites before you commited to the local Community College, I'm glad you made the right decision based on the bloggers.

speculate: to take to be true on the basis of insufficient evidence

is this not what you are doing but yet you hate it when others do???:banghead2

and IF a recruit takes a forum's opinion or comments and believes this represents the thoughts of all of the fan base and would make a decision based on this......that recruit has much to learn and needs to have better guidance and teaching...

I can't believe it took over an hour for someone to notice he said Isaac was a silent to ND.

Joe J. it appears you have some familiarity with the situation from up close. Your tone in your posts make it seem as though Alex still really wants to be at ND and trust me when I say everyone on this board still really wants Alex to be at ND.

As for Isaac, there has been some mention that the staff sees him on the outside possibly even growing into a DE or maybe that was just some opinion.

If they were both to commit I don't think it would necessarily hurt either of their chances of seeing the field early. If anything they would play beside each other on the inside.

Currently

Inside=Deeb, Anzalone
Outside= Jaylon, Mattingly, Randolph (Muhammad is potential CAT/DE if he were a commit)

If Isaac were to join it doesn't appear to me as he would jeopardize any of Alex's potential playing time. He could stay inside opposite of Alex, move outside where Mattingly has a potential to move to TE and Randolph has the ability to put his hand in the ground.

I understand. I feel the same way. Our coaches have to protect the future of the team, as they should. I just think there is no big deal here. I know when I was that age social media was not available. Recruiting news has become a big money maker & in order to entice fans to pay, rumors & are spread. Unfortunately, these kids are subjected to it. Something as innocent as attending a football game is being interpreted as a decommitment ? I just don't get it.

Will everyone just stop until there's something substantial to report. If you want to speculate any further, go write yourself a letter.

Shanker on ESPN said after meeting with Alex 1 vs 1 he knows Alex is worried about how it would look to decommit a 2nd time. I think Jared met Alex at his Under Armor Jersey presentation.

Yikes, I don't like that at all. Alex, go where you want. We want and need you but anyone who has gone to college knows it's a tough decision. I changed my mind about six times; you'll get no judgment from me.

I just don't want him to pull a Greenberry and flip when it's too late to fill his spot. Of course, the problem might be that he just doesn't know what he wants right now; I understand that too.

Alex, if you love Florida, please go. But I hope for your own sake you take your official to ND.

I agree I think the family is trying to figure out the best way to spin this whole thing right now. They should just man up and do it. By this time next week nobody will care, it will be on to the next recruit.

Like a band-aid, he needs to just rip it off. No need to drag it out if he knows were he wants to go.

Exactly, just man up and do it. Why would the Anzalones care what we think anyway? It's Alex's decision and no one else matters. If he's decided to flip, the only reason I could see for holding it in is he doesn't know how to break to the ND coaches and other ND commits. That would be hard.

But who knows, I'm still not sure he's flipping.

Is that just Shanker's opinion or did Alex say, "I am worried about how it would look to decommit a 2nd time." I have yet to see any actual quotes from Alex or his parents yet and until I do I believe nothing.

Muhammad , Isaac , and Mackenzie would be a good dose of who cares on this matter. But if I had my choice I would love to have Alex there when this class goes undefeated a few times.

Call me crazy but I still think he takes his official to ND but that trip will just delay the inevitable.

Sounds like another Lynch dramatic recruiting process. I get the point about changing your mind but then don't commit until your ready. It really makes you appear that your word isnt your word and then the wheels are always spinning about wavering. It would be great to have someone with his abilities but even if he chooses ND - is he really a RKG with his indecisive commiting? I'd rather a 3-star guy who works his *** off and ND actually means something to him and isn't distracted by the next best thing that someone throws in your ear.

So much is spent on judging ones athletic abilities but how much of the star rating is based on their character?

As a commit I think he owes Kelly the OV. Hopefully by the end of the visit it can be sorted out and settled or shortly thereafter. With no hard facts, at least publicly, he has had a lot more interaction with Florida than Notre Dame.

In 6 years of following the soap opera of recruiting, when there's this much smoke, there's fire.

Still hope he ends up Irish.

If AA does decide to go to Florida, will espn then knock him down in their rankings for wavering and being indecisive?
