Focusing on recruiting seems more important when your team is losing, because it is the necessary evil to conjure winning..

BK has been successful and we are reaping the benefits on the field, as we speak. Anzalone may stay, he may go. Either way, ND's football program is developing into something real.
Reps sent...

Very classless ... obviously Alex can go wherever he wants, but stringing us along is very uncool, when we have few remaining spots and every one of them counts. What's even your incentive to do that? Save a spot in each class until you make up your mind? Or if he just needs time to break the news to our staff, hopefully he does it soon.

Savaiinea has got to be our top remaining priority at this point, right after an elite DB, whether AA goes or stays. Even if AA stays, I think Savaiinea can play OLB or even DE if he bulks up.

Easy there killer...

This is the recruiting world in a nutshell...

What? Decommits? If that's what you mean, I agree; but a silent verbal while committed to another school? I would say that is rare, no? Hopefully, if that's the situation, though, it's just a very short term thing while he figures out how to tell the staff, as Whiskey said. Nothing wrong with that.

And, yeah, if he decommits, that won't bother me at all in itself, because that's just recruiting ... but I do think it is very important to get two ILBs in this class for depth in 2014, so I'm quite serious and I don't think I'm being hasty at all when I say we should go after Savaiinea right now, if we're not already pressing hard, no matter what AA does. Even if AA stays for now, we should protect ourselves against a change of heart down the road by getting another big-time ILB.

Read ya loud and clear.

Just meant the "classless" comment. I mean it's still early October and we have to make it til February...

If he changed his mind, then so be it, we'll just keep playing on the field and fill the spot with someone that wants to be Irish

No hard feelings

Oh true ... "classless" is a little strong at this point, before we know the story. I should give AA more credit than that.

So to recap:

Takes picture with O$U's sex offender, decommits from them.

Commits to ND, wants to be the next Manti. Proclaims such on multiple occasions from the heavens of Mount Twitter.

Now sees UF beat a grossly overrated LSU team and he's going Gator. Supposedly.

So much drama in the LBC.

Its just a rumor and sometimes when this stuff like this gets out people change their minds. David Dawson was all set to visit Florida and decommit from Michigan but it got out and as of right now he is still committed to Michigan.

Florida got a few silents last year late and the kids flipped after they made a visit to another school (Tracey Howard).

Alex could have given a silent and still planned on visiting ND for the BYU game. That's why I don't put much stock into these until they go public.

Times have changed fella's. Decommits used to reflect another weak year , more bad press, and the gnawing feeling our own ineptitude was chasing good players away.

That is just no longer the case--With or without Alex we are going to have a great class and use every schollie we feel we can spare. I absolutely guarantee that a decommit or two will be replaced with another talented player.

In addition a decommit under these circumstances is not related to our failures but simply a youngster who feels like someplace else is better for him. Nothing we can do about that, nothing we did to cause that, so no real reason to flail around in the same fashion we did in previous years.

We are no longer a team desperate for a good recruit to help us rebuild our lagging program. Our program is REBUILT, and this season and this top recruiting class will translate into another fast start in recruiting for next season. And so it goes , winning brings recruits , strong recruits bring winning --its a cycle we have been desperately trying to get into, and if you watch this team and look at recruiting in the big picture its clear we are already rolling on that cycle with no end in sight. Its all good!

Sure sounds like "he gone" which is pretty darn funny based on his comments before his commitment to ND about making sure that he was "100%" before choosing another school and there being a "0%" chance of decommitment. Alex was one of the top 5 players in this class but honestly I'm fine with this as long as we replace him with Isaac Sav or a top-tier player from another position. We're still going to have 4 LBs in the class even with his decommitment.

Agree 100%. If true, better now than later.

LOL! It's almost as if, in the past, we were projecting our own frustrations with the team's performance onto the kid's decision to leave. Whereas this year, we are insulated by our good feelings even though kids are leaving anyway.

link works and free...click on it.

Thanks. Just did. Since it's free, here's the only relevant excerpt I found:

" With Jalen Ramsey (USC commit), DeMarcus Robinson (Clemson), David Dawson (Michigan), Ira Denson (FSU), Alex Anzalone (Notre Dame) and Elijah Daniel (Clemson) all showing tremendous interest, Muschamp could be picking and choosing from other commit lists if the success continues. Chomp, chomp, flip, flip."

If true, I am not worried. I have never felt good about any recruit that has swayed or decommitted to join ND.

I am glad the Tuitt (I puposely call him the Tuitt now, like the Hulk) stayed but AL was always iffy with me and I was never on his bandwagon.

I think we are now seeing how BK develops players so I am less concerned with what position they play but the calibre of ATHLETE he is bringing in. I remember under Charlie Weis his players were so specific and if we lost a TE, we lost a TE...if we lost a CB we lost a CB. Now its like if we lose a Greenberry, we have Daniels.... if we lose a Tee we have a Russell. That makes me happy. I hope Alex stays, but if we lose Alex, we will be fine.

I wonder what he does when ND ends up #2 in BCS rankings after beating Stanford :pity:

Well since there hasn't been a public announcement yet at least there is still hope he stays. Now is he supposed to make his visit this weekend or for BYU? I'm seeing mixed info on this and am actually hoping its this weekend with Game Day being in the Bend and such a huge game to be played that day. I think that could really change the tune very fast! Just my opinion though.

If it wasn't true I think we would hear how "committed" he still is to us after the UF game and these rumors. But we haven't heard anything. I think he's gone as well. Oh we'll! We're 5-0!
