My take: So ND is telling him when to do interviews. Sounds good to me.

Maybe. Could be he has told the coaches he is having 2nd thoughts and they have just asked him to take his time and think it through without the media onslaught. Alex doesn't seem to be a media hog anyway so it probably suits him if this could be the case.

I haven't gotten a sense that Alex has built much of a relationship with the other commitments since he committed to Notre Dame. I don't tweet but I haven't seen anything he's posted anywhere. Seems too quiet to me. Everything I hear seems to be Florida related, there's a lot of smoke it seems.

I don't think so. He is an EE, so he is going to need time to set that up with w/e school he chooses. I think he is ours if he goes to the BYU game.

I respectfully disagree. Look at Aaron Lynch and Ishaq Williams for how fast things can change with an EE.

I don't understand this recruitment. He says he is enroling early and will wear #5 and will represent Manti Teo. Then there is a rumor about a de-committment. Weird

This is my take on the whole situation. He was obsessed with Urban and Florida. Every time he visited Florida there were no recruits on campus to hang out with. He goes to tOSU hangs out with players and recruits has a blast then commits. His father later finds out Alex got hammered (pure speculation) and is livid tells Alex he will not be attending tOSU.

Alex then says, "man I really like Heuerman we could be best buds in college I am going to ND". Later he meets all the Florida recruits at the opening and he starts to think about how much he likes them as well. In the end I think somewhere along the line Alex lost focus on why he is should pick a University and is more worried about who he is going to be hanging out with.

I could agree and thats why until they sign the LOI the verbal is almost meaning less.

Maybe he hasn't lost it yet but it is certainly trending that way.

Thanks bro. Honestly loved watching you guys play yesterday. Both teams are having better years than most expected. Just let us have Anzalone bro

Its been fun watching both teams play. I wish Alex would just honor his commitment but I am not going to lie I have already penciled him in as the starting Hback for the Gators in two years hope I am wrong. Its not that I think he is a bad player just would rather fill other needs. His coverage skills would work well with ND scheme, you guys drop your LB's very deep at times.

I do believe he will visit for for BYU game and the Banquet and will still be going to ND. If he visits Florida in December he will be a Gator

I agree he will visit and say all the right things we just have to wait for his actions afterwards.
I dont really believe the "ND doesnt want me to do interviews" excuse he is telling people right now. But its better than him saying something stupid in an interview.

There is just no point in him doing a interview right now. He's committed to ND. will be here in two weeks meet with admissions and hopefully for ND sakes stays committed. He's got a lot to think about right now and there is no point in him talking to the media. Don't expect to hear anything from Anzalone camp, we will know more about this in two weeks when he compares ND visit to Florida.

I will lose respect for him with the way he has talked about ND ...

Ahem, if he talked the way you do in ND game threads about ND players, he shouldn't be let in the school. But he doesn't do that. You are not one to be speaking about a lack of respect.

This recruit is an 18 year old kid figuring out a lifetime decision under a lot of pressure from family, friends, and teammates. He's being courted by a number of high profile programs and hounded by recruiting services. If he's in doubt, I hope he does do his dilegence and thinks his decision through. Signing an LOI and transferring ala Lynch, et al, is in no one's best interest.

Are you serious that Anzalone's disrespectful for aspiring to one day playing like Manti does? Would you rather he aspire to being a career bench warmer?

What's your excuse as an adult for trashing 18 and 19 year olds, whether ND players or recruits, week after week, season after season?

Do you read the swill you post or just blurt it out without engaging your brain?

Luckily the Irish are playing well this year, and the future is looking bright. He would be a great part of a great incoming class, but as others have said, if ND isn't for him best of luck to him. ND won't have trouble getting another quality player.

What i menat to say was that i would losesome respect for him. I think he is going to be a hell of a football player and i don't dislike him at all. I am saying that he shouldn' say i want to wear #5 at ND if he knows down deep that there is a real possibility that he could attend another school. Manti is by far the most respected player, person, and leader this team has seen in a very long time. To make those comments is just not right IMO.

And yes i have mentioned that therr have beens sometime i should of hit the delete button rather then enter iwill give you that the proof is there.

Anzalone has a lot to think about right now. It's pretty obvious he has a thing for the Gators and is torn. I don't blame him for feeling that way, he just experienced a great scene down there. He needs to make sure he comes up on his visit though and really takes in everything because like Alligator said he really is an ideal fit to play in our defense with his athleticism! Hope we can hold onto him!

He took a visit with his parents to see a matchup between top 10 teams. It is an unofficial so I do not think the coaches can talk to him. He is committed to ND until it says otherwise. Just chill out guys. He has 2 more visits planned to ND as well.

Alex speaks with Doug Randolph and Mile Huermann and J Smith. I think he is connected with the Irish.

It was one thing to bail on ND when we were looking shaky and losing, but now? How does Aaron Lynch feel now? I hope he is happy, but talk about jumping ship at the wrong time....

Can you imagine this defense with Aaron Lynch, or Ronald Darby and Tee Shepard? JESUS LORD.

Time to move on, time to move on.

I don't think Anzalone is going to decommit for a second time. But if he does, this staff isn't likely to let it ruin the class. That has been a big difference between Weis and Kelly. Isaac Savaiinaea would be getting triple the phone calls he is. This staff isn't stupid.

We're going to get to the point where Kelly "arrives," where people across the country actually accept that Kelly's winning ways are going to be brought to the national stage. He did it at GVSU, he did it at CMU, and he certainly did it at Cincinnati. That is going to have an incredible impact on recruiting going forward.

Not to derail this thread, but you can't convince me that this D would've been noticeably better with Lynch. Lynch with the right attitude? Hell yeah. But the Lynch we had? I dunno... quite a double edged sword.

Darby + Tee? Sheesh... talk about having young guys with potential at every position....

Even Bennett Otkocha and Tony Hurd Jr. would have been great.

As good as our D-line is, we don't have a ton of depth (especially now that Hounsell's out for the year). It's KLM and Tuitt (two studs) with just Day and Springman behind them (and Springman is not that good). Aaron Lynch was a gamer and an elite pass-rusher. Much better pass rusher than KLM, imo, and Aaron (opposite of Tuitt) would be unreal on 3rd and long. I think it'd be a huge difference. Sigh, USF to be closer to an 8 at best. Oh well.

We would also be noticeably worse against the run as Lynch was poor at playing assignment football. It is a give and take. If you are going to play Lynch on third downs or obvious pass rushing situations then you are probably going to get a player who would be grumpy and a lockerroom cancer. No thanks. Also Springman has played pretty well this year, so I don't get the hating on him.

Nothing you said here is wrong. Heaven forbid we have an injury and I would completely change my tune.

But Aaron Lynch continually blew assignments and din't play the run well and committed a lot of mistakes including big penalties. As a situational pass rusher he could've been a huge asset... but he wasn't willing to be that... so it's kinda moot point. And he was a huge cancer with a bad attitude... and if there is one thing I've learned playing sports it's that attitude is contagious. With people in the right mindset, the whole team performs better. With even a couple people not "bought in" or causing distractions the whole productivity of the team tumbles. As things stand right now, I'm just not sure if he would've actually improved our performance so far.

This. Watch the USC game last year. They ran at Lynch every single play. Yes depth is an issue and he was a dynamic pass rusher from the end spot but ND isn't looking for pass rushing DE's, that was a bonus. The pass rush is supposed to come from the linebacker spot (Shembo, Ishaq). ND wants run stuffing DE's that won't let anyone get to the outside. It would be a huge blow to lose either KLM or Tuitt but all Lynch would have provided is depth and an extra pass rusher on 3rd down.

Since we are talking about Lynch. The team openly said it was going to be addition by subtraction and it has shown. I honestly don't think all this talk about family would exist with him on team but that is my opinion.

It will be a minor miracle if Florida escapes this season with 2 losses. They play Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida State. Plus the SEC championship game against Bama. Vanderbilt and Missouri are not gimmes either
