phil steele also said that if he were a betting man...he'd bet the house on ND over ann arbor last year...hope he wasn't a betting man

He made the right bet last year. ND should have covered that spread.

Herbstreit just picked us; said we were one of the only teams in the country that plays defense. He also picked Purdue over Michigan.

Well, what'd he say?

Basically, Miami doesnt travel well or play well in the cold. Chicago is a ND town and the stadium will be 99% Irish. Miami has a good QB but who is easily rattled and the rest of the team is young. He also said ND needed the bye week to get Golson back on track and the basically the Irish are too good on D.

Miami looks ultra thin @ OL

Miami looks ultra thin @ OL

OL Jermaine Johnson just left the team. Ben Jones got hurt last week and is out. Then on the DL - Olsen Pierre (starter) was held out today.

Apparently, they've been using several combinations of players on the starting OL, trying to see what works. We don't really have a clear picture of how good they are. They've done really well in every game except Kansas State (~40 yards rushing, 5 sacks allowed), which just happens to be the only quality team they've played.

It's going to be interesting to watch Miami shuffle OL trying to stop our strongest position. Our DL are going to get pressure without a doubt. I just hope they don't let delayed handoffs go for big plays if we over-pursue.

PS. I've been lurking around for awhile and finally decided to sign up.

Saturday's forecast:

High of 53, low of 37. 20% chance of rain. Should be windy, too.

Ahh for the love of....

I don't want to hear that. One of the only things I love nearly as much as Notre Dame winning is that jagoff eating crow.

Today in Miami it's 91 degrees and feels like 101 degrees according to accuweather. That's quite a temp change when the low will be 37 but feels like 27 on Saturday.

Welcome aboard. Tell Micheal Scott I said hello.

I am with GITF and tko on this one. We take it handily. I will unfortunately be following via my phone. Camping this weekend.

This is really nice weather to play football in. Especially on defense. Loving it.

I Hope this ends up like the Sun Bowl did 2 years ago, with all the Miami players huddled around the heater with their long johns and under armours on while ND is in short sleeves

Guys-is anyone else thinking like me that this game will be a ^%$#@ to win. Miami wants this badly and Notre Dame has been off 2 weeks. I'm staying negative-its worked so far. Miami throws the ball downfield and the 3 games I saw them play have a great attitude. They play well late in the game. Not the old Miami but good tough players. Golden has made a mark. Their D is small but runs well to the ball and their running back is explosive. I'm real leary of this game. Call me negative (I've taken my scoldings) but I dont like this game. Irish better get off fast and score some points. I'll pick Miami if it will keep me streak alive-yeh I'm picking Miami and hope I'm dead wrong.

Walking back to car after interviews, and Russell and Shumate were just then leaving practice field.

I think I am joined by everyone on this conference call when I say, Manti Teo for Heisman. That is all.

Love it. Our players are getting the right mentality. This team is going to go places.

I'm at work so I can't watch the press video, but everything I've read has been from people that were 100% blown away by Teo.

Of course, we around here are already aware of what a great human being Manti is, but it's nice that the whole nation is starting to see the big picture. Teo should be in the Heisman convo... but he should also win a Life Heisman for being what every student-athlete should strive to be off the field, regardless of their production on the field.

Manti: "Coach Diaco isn't just one of the best coaches on the field, he's one of the best coaches in life. This defense is the same personnel that 2 years ago people were saying was slow. The change has been the coaching we get from Coach Diaco. He's really cultivated that feeling of family...that I can call Coach Diaco for anything, it could be 3 in the morning, and he'll pick his phone up and come help me. When you have that connection to a coach, you'll do anything for him."

Not all that was verbatim, but the message isn't changed. Quite the show of support from a guy thats a Senior Captain and had to endure a big coaching change early in his collegiate life. I hope Diaco gets paid, as in getting one of the highest salaries for an Assistant Coach in college football today. I wasn't on board with Diaco after the Navy loss the first year and his response from halftime, but he's made me a believer the last few years.
