I can't believe how many of you sick depraved people put mayonnaise on your sandwiches. That is the grossest thing I've ever heard.

Not home made, but the best sandwich I've ever had was a place in New Jersey somewhere between Wildwood and Avalon... called Pat's Cheesesteaks. I went plain with just the steak and cheese. Words can not describe the joy I had while eating this sandwich.

And no, it's not a chain or the big "Pat's Cheesesteaks," just a little hole-in-the-wall run by one old man. I'd like to make it back, but by now it would be a long-shot for him to still be in the biz based on age.

The best "cheesesteak" is D'Angelo's steak and cheese. Its made with slices of real american cheese melted on the steak as it cooks, not that nasty spray cheese or whatever they call the garbage they serve in Philly.

I used to have Mayo sandwiches when I was a kid. Just mayo and bread. Now I want to vomit when I smell or eat mayo

I can't believe this!!!
If you are ever in Indianapolis, go to Shapiro's and order the corned beef.
If in St Louis, Protzil's in Clayton MO (Protzel's Deli) (ask for Ronnie, and tell him Beth from Evansville sent you). Be sure you have gone to confession and asked for last rights as you might not leave alive, (or at least ask your cardiologist to remain on instant call).
Where are the contingents from Chicago and New York? They must know about Kosher corned beef. Perhaps they have all clogged their "corn-in-ary" arteries and have left us.
You put mayo on ineatible stuff, not real food.

Any sandwich from Primanti Brothers in Pittsburgh. No debate about it

Saw that on some food show, just can't get excited about fries piled on a sandwich. It looks so dry and "carby". I guess I'd have to try it, but doesn't look that great.

Looks great to me. It is like a BBQ pork sandwich with coleslaw on it. Yummy

So were thinking sandwiches for NFL football tomorrow and it started a debate. What's the best home made sandwich in the world? I love a good sandwich and there are a lot of good ones but heres mine. Whats yours?

Fresh White Bread
Roasted Turkey
Cranberry sauce
Mayo

I was reminded that I left the stuffing off. It wouldn't be right without the stuffing.

Put an Earl of Sandwich next to a Potbelly's and watch heads explode as they fail to choose between the two.

That's crazy, I didn't think anyone would have heard of Avalon, but thought maybe Wildwood would catch someone's attention.

Anywho, I'm from Cincinnati but my father's grandparents lived in Avalon. We go up every few years, but I wasn't able to go last time so it's been a while. I want to say Pat's was kind of in the middle of nowhere, right before you get to a toll bridge that runs somewhere between Wildwood and Avalon... that's about as good a description as I can remember, so I don't know if that would make any sense at all haha. Longshot. But Pat's was just a small place, a bar with 6 or 7 seats, his grill and some big soup kettles, and that was literally it. He was famous for his she-crab and lobster soups, but the couple times I went I stuck with the heavenly cheesesteak. Unlike any cheesesteak I've ever had.

Phillippe's in LA or Weiler's in Northridge have the best sandwiches I've tried in California.

yup! phillips is awesome.

cant beat a hot sausage from cubby bear.

knights of columbus steak sandwich on the quad of notre dame is pretty good.

i love a good italian sub. nice french bread. provolone. salami. pepperoni. ham. capicola. lettuce. tomato. peppercinis. vinegar and oil. salt and pepper. parmigiano. a tiny bit of yellow mustard. little basil or oregano.

but heres one that will blow your mind:
potato bread. oven roasted turkey. american cheese. yellow mustard. peanut butter. BOOM! the peanut butter should be used lightly. not like making a pb and j. but it really adds to the flavor of the turkey. my buddy puts lettuce and tomoato on this. i do not.

A good cuban is the best hands down.

Next best:

Medium rare prime rib (8oz slab) - with blackening seasoning
layer of turkey
bacon
choice of cheese (I prefer blue)
greens and veggies as you like
hoagie
served hot with Au jus

Best homemade sandwich hands down is a Club with Turkey, ham, bacon and pepper jack on fresh sourdough.

I had a restaurant sandwich three weeks ago that blew my mind the Romesco Chicken Sandwich at the Deschutues brewery in Bend, Oregon. Perfectly grilled chicken breast, bacon, Romesco sauce spinach and pepper jack. AMAZING.

I have a couple great recipes for sandwiches that take some serious prep, but my favorite quick, easy, no cooking involved, and everything is in your fridge already sandwich is:

burrito sized tortilla- if you have a gas oven, throw it right on the burner for some color and heat.
turkey slices
cheese (your choice)
honey mustard
couple drops of hot sauce
jays potato chips

fold, roll, and enjoy
