I think we will be able to run the ball this game, which will open up the play action pass.

We will be just fine on defense, we will get pressure on Morris and that might cause Morris to make some mistkaes

The problem with our run game is that we go with "jumbo" sets with multiple TEs... and the TEs routinely don't block well. And the WRs don't block remotely close to as well as Floyd (I know... that's asking a lot). AND the OL has shown no ability to handle strong DTs nor get to the second level and put a hat on a LB. So it's a group failure.

The only blocker who has played consistently to a sorta-acceptable level is Watt. Martin and Cave both have had way too many issues. And I thought I would never miss Trevor Robinson, but holy heck have we downgraded at RG and even at RT.

They need to go back to the spread style runs which they has success at not this pro style

This, this, this, this.

We're trying to ram it down people's throats and we don't have the personnel up front to do that.

Maybe that's what we will do. We have to get Wood, Theo, and GA3 in space so they can use their speed.

I really would like to see Lombard moved to guard and then have Nichols step in at RT. Golic really limits what we can do when we face solid DL's. I also think Nichols would be a big upgrade for run blocking considered he's the size of a dump truck.

It's not like we have power backs anyway,... Spread the field, throw underneath to help EG and get our backs some space to run through by spreading it out...

Idk, clearly something else is going on because it seems so obvious but the staff seems insistent on doing the opposite.

Never understood our philosophy to run from the jumbo set. The idea coming in was that our line was more versatile and athletic and get into space, and our philosophy has been far from utilizing those perceived strengths. We need to get back in the spread and create lanes through space.

Game plan for this game is simple. Don't get beat deep 8 times like the North Carolina secondary. Jeez they even got beat deep playing prevent. Anyhow, those 5-8 plays were all of Miamis offense. Their running game and short passing game were garbage as was their defense from what I saw.

Are we starting overrating Miami today or is that something that is going to start on Monday?

Miami is not good and we will win. They are a worse team than Michigan State, Michigan, and Purdue. They have one of the worst defenses in D1 and we will not trail in this game.

I would say Koyack and Wr blocking hurting more than Golic?

Gotta give Golic a chance though. He is not going to overpower too many people, so you give him angles to get an advantage. Again, spread them out and work on attacking the angle.

Golson's inexperience is the #1 reason for the deterrent on offense. No, it's not a slight, it's not a knock, it's not to get him down or anything of that nature.

He's just so young in regards to playing experience that it has hurt the offense at times when a more seasoned QB would have made certain throws that he has either over thrown, under thrown, rushed, etc.

I love Golson and absolutely love seeing him play. I think he is gonna be just fine in the end and get the job done. Just noting that I believe his inexperience to be the #1 knock on offense.

I hope Golson shows improvement.

This is a defense that gave up 441 yards passing and 3 TD's to Chase Rettig of Boston College. Kansas States' QB was 9-11 for 210 yards. That's 23 yards a completion.

He needs to play a solid game. This is not the Miami of old.

They gave up another 440 yards through the air today.

Eifert all day... Miami has not shown they can defend every day TEs... TE should be able to really expose them

Miami will absolutely give us their best shot.

Look how well BC played us last year, same with the game against Pitt...

We are Notre Dame, people love being able to say that they beat Notre Dame, ESPECIALLY a top 10 ranked, undefeated Notre Dame.

On paper we're better, and have played better opponents, but come Saturday, all that sh*t means nothing.

I hope some of us around here aren't penciling this in as a "W" already, because I haven't

NC states D-line was just awful. We'll see what happens to Miami's O-line against our Dline. Hopefully the Nd's offense does something this game.

With the bye week to heal up and prepare, I expect to see an improved offense. I think our D can get us to Norman without a loss but we're gonna have to put up some points to win that game.

Nice! I'm still stoked about taking the state of Michigan and not allowing a TD to either of them!

This is absolutely amazing considering the lack of production from the offensive side of the ball. Hats off to the D!

hopefully just staying focused on the task at hand and the defense shuts down a pretty good passing offense.

They pull him a lot to trap tackles. Unfortunately, he's had problems doing that even with a running start. He's just not a powerful guard.

Here's what I know. Miami squeaked by Ga Tech. Ga Tech just got blown out by Middle Tennessee. All I got.
