#NotreDame DC Bob Diaco says Zeke Motta may be nation's best safety. "He's well on his way," Diaco said.

Who would have thought this last year? But this year he has been on point.. Kid is playing damn good football.

I did. At the end of the season players on the team stated that Zeke Motta is every bit as good as Harrison Smith, maybe better. They were saying he is more athletic than Harrison.

People were thinking he was a bust, but he really never had a full time opportunity to stay consistently on the field. Now that he is the starter and a leader we see what he brings to the table.

He is playing with more confidence and attitude this year. I think that has been the biggest difference.

Finally is taking better routes to the football. That's the major difference. The ability has always been there, and just like with Smith the mental part is coming together.

I want a weapon in the U.S. Military artillery to be named "Zeke".

Could you imagine the presser: "We hit the insurgents with a 'Zeke'. None survived."

I was down on Zeke after the first play against Navy where he took the bad angle. I thought to myself, haven't we learned anything? He has certainly come back with a vengeance and has been a tremendous leader on the field. Great to see.

Love it for Motta, my only complaint is his ball skills. I love the way he has played this year though and really exceeded my expectations for him. Congrats Zeke

What do you mean by that? I thought he was fantastic versus Michigan in this department. Got his hands in front of the receiver and broke well on the ball. He got Manti one of his picks.

IMO no team can even be mentioned as Safety U besides Miami for a long time.

I dogged Zeke HARD. He's obviously been great. He used to look so slow out there, but he's improved his reads and obviously his pursuit angles. Kudos to him.

Absolutely agree with Walter. Not just the interception, but what about the play where Bennett was completely beaten and Motta, who was covering someone else, came over and made the play on the ball thrown to Bennett's man? Mayock pointed it out. If that's not ideal ball skills from a safety, I don't know what is.

I was only half serious Ironman

No I know, but Miami had a run at Safety that almost no other program has had at one position that I can remember. No position in a given program is more deserving of the "U" moniker behind it more than Miami and safety, IMO. That's all I was saying.

Ed Reid by himself, who is in my opinion the best NFL free safety to play the game, qualifies them for Safety U.

And PSU has been Linebacker U for as long as I can remember.

USC i would call RB U. We're TE U. Wisco i would say is OL U. I can't really pin any others. Purdue QB U?

Miami has us beat at TE U as well.

Kyle Rudolph, Anthony Fasano, and Tyler Eifert tend to disagree with you.

And Jimmy Graham, Greg Olsen, Kellen Winslow, Jeremy Shockey, and Bubba Franks would disagree with you. We both have a great TE lineage, and I think ours has been better recently, but Miami has put out a ton of NFL talent there.

Don't get me wrong, they have a great lineage. But like you said, and the point I was trying to make, is that ours has been better as of late.

Uhm, I'll take the school that has produced the players that are pro-bowlers or near pro-bolwers over the school that has produced adequate pros, when calling a school TE U.

At Notre Dame, they were either the best TE or one of the best TE in the country. We can sell what they do in college, we cannot control what they do in the Pros.
