Is this one of those things where the coach wants players to hold off on committing so some lower tier players get the chance to be seen by recruiters?

Don Bosco Prep has always done this with its players. The coach there wants his players to focus on the season and then take care of recruiting afterward. They had 4 D1 prospects last year and ND was looking at two of them. We would have gotten both of them if it wasnt for twittergate. It was known way back that Muhammad would wait until after the season, that is what Don Bosco Prep recruits do.

For the record, Sapp has heard that despite the two unofficial visits Colorado is not a serious contender for Muhammad, as we all suspected.

Some of you just don't get it because there is nothing about his game that suggest that he's a 3-4 DE.

It's either you guys that believe he's a 3-4 DE don't get the 3-4 concept or you don't understand who Al Muhammad is.

Muhammad is a "true DE" who's game is very much in the mold of South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney. His game is about the pass rush, he's quick, agile and athletic and that description alone should tell you that in in the traditional sense as in the 4-3 that he is indeed a true DE.

Because in the 4-3 the pressure comes from the D-Line especially from the DE and the LB's are the to stop the run or drop into coverage unless they blitz.

A 4-3 DE and 3-4 DE are vastly different and though there are more and more teams going with the 3-4 the majority of teams still run a 4-3 and the recruiting databases reflect this hence why a lot of the time our ND LB prospects are listed as DE's and the DE prospects are listed as DT or as OL sometimes.

So the point is that if a player/prospect is a pass rusher in the 4-3 he's going to be a DE but if the team switches to a 3-4 or the player goes to a team that runs a 3-4, his skill set and size will make him an OLB and in ND's case most like as a Cat OLB.

The reason is that a 3-4 DE is essentially is a 4-3 DT and is a totally different skill set and responsibility to that of a 4-3 DE who's responsibility is to create pressure on the QB whereas the primary responsibility for a 3-4 DE is similar to that of the 4-3 DT and be stout against the run by plugging up gaps and passing plays taking on multiple blockers to creat pass rushing opportunities for the LB. Getting a pass rush out of the 3-4 DE is awesome but it's a bonus.

It's very frustrating to me that some of you just don't get it because there is such a drastic difference between 4-3 and 3-4 DE's and such similarities between 4-3 DE and the 3-4 Cat OLB and that if you seen Al Muhammad could you mistake him for a 3-4 DE.

That is why we haven't heard anything about them at all. If this kid watch national TV a little, advantage Alabama and ND on this one. Then again, i'm sure we'll know more about him when his season is over.

Some of those jersey kids like to stay at home Darius Hamilton knew he would get better coaching and more recognition at Florida but he just didnt want to leave the state. Same thing with Nadir Barnwell he was never leaving home. Plenty of Jersey kids leave (most of them) and ND has certainly gotten their fair share kids, Alquadin is just going to have to decide if he wants to cut lose the umbilical cord.

They had been doing a decent job lately at keeping some top talent in state, but losing the HC and face of Rutgers set them back. With Flood getting them to win immediately with a stout D, I would look for that to possibly pick back up, especially with the PSU mess and BC being a hot mess on the field.

Yeah they did well the past two years in Jersey. Frank Spaziani was a terrible hire for BC I was shocked when they panicked and decided he was going to be the head coach . Bill O'Brien was a great hire for PSU but its going to be hard for him to recruit.

Back to Muhammad he is special and having Jaylon and him on the field together would be unreal this is the kind of player you hold a spot for.
