Is week two going to have many shakeout games for those teams ranked ahead of us?

AP Poll:
#15 - Virginia Tech vs. Austin Peay (n/a)
#16 - Nebraska at UCLA (+5)
#17 - Texas vs. New Mexico (+38/+38.5)
#18 - Oklahoma State at Arizona (+10.5/+11.5)
#19 - Michigan vs. Air Force (+21.5)
#20 - TCU vs. Grambling State (n/a)
#21 - Kansas State vs. Miami (+6.5/+7)
#22 - Notre Dame vs. Purdue (+14.5)

Coaches Poll:
#15 - Texas vs. New Mexico (+38/+38.5)
#16 - Oklahoma State at Arizona (+10.5/+11.5)
#17 - TCU vs. Grambling State (n/a)
#18 - Virginia Tech vs. Austin Peay (n/a)
#19 - Michigan vs. Air Force (+21.5)
#20 - Kansas State vs. Miami (+6.5/+7)
#21 - Stanford vs. Duke (+15.5/+14.5)
#22 - Notre Dame vs. Purdue (+14.5)

I wouldn't be surprised if Air Force beat Michigan, and it wouldn't shock me if Duke managed to beat Stanford.

I don't think Arizona can hang with Oklahoma State, I have no idea why the spread is so close.

I'll gladly take the W and move onto Michigan State. If the Irish are 3-0 at that point, they will shoot up the rankings.

The Arizona schools have been historically tough places to win @. That's really the only reason that I can think of. I guess also because there's probably 50 or so Division I teams that could beat a ****** Div. II team like Sav. St. the way OSU did, so the oddsmakers weren't all that impressed with their 84 point victory.

BTW-- anybody know why the hell did TCU open with a bye...then schedule Grambling for week 2??? That's pathetic.

I would have to think that an impressive win for us against Purdue combined with Michigan not covering the spread and Kstate losing would put us up around 18. We all know K-state was impressive, but historically speaking, stats tell us that is unlikely to have a better record this year due to their unusually good turnover margin (+12) and favorable outcomes in games decided by less than a touchdown last year.

Arizona had to circle the wagons to hold on at home against Toledo to win. Thinking about it UT and BGSU could be an extremely good game this year.

Is there a way to see how individual coaches and journalists voted for their respective polls?

This is a site that you can find all of that information and then some: Pollstalker | Pollstalker

(note: coach's voting in the USA Today poll is not public, as you may remember from that Kiffin dust up from earlier this year.)

Here is a breakdown of who voted ND where and where they rank in different ranking systems: Pollspeak Notre Dame Report

You guys think we drop after today's win? Stay the same? Rise (assuming others lose)?

I'll say 21. Wiscy will probably drop to 20. Michigan may drop to 22 or 23. They didnt look very good against Air Force

Well we didn't look very good today either....

Yeah, but Purdue's a major conference school with a decent track record. Gets more respect, deserved or not, than a service academy. Plus we didn't get crunched last week. We didn't play poorly enough today to drop. Barring upsets tonight we'll likely stay about the same, maybe jump Wisconsin or UM.

We came back from Ireland came out and played well. No starting running back, several injuries , and I mean this A very improved Purdue team !!! We should drop we look like we would be a big ten champion at this point .

Nebraska lost, Oklahoma State is losing, Wisconsin lost, and Arkansas lost to a Sun Belt team. There's a chance we pass all of those teams although I think the last two aren't likely. 20th if we aren't leapfrogged.

Arkansas may drop out completely. They may be in the SEC but nobody loses to a Sun Belt team and gets away with it. Wisconsin was 13th and lost to a team that was 3-9 last year so ND could easily pass them too.

Week 2 Records for Week 1 Coaches Poll

Week 2 Records for Week 1 Coaches Poll

Here are the updated Won - Loss Records for the Teams that were ranked or got votes in the Week 1 Coaches Poll Ranking. I also listed a couple of teams that will probably get some votes for upsets. The teams that LOST this week have an "L" after their Won Loss Record lost in Week 2 and will definitely drop. I left the Points and Ranking from Week 1 so you can see the gaps between various teams. You'll need to use the scroll bar in the window to see the teams at the bottom of the list.

ND Remains 16th in Sagarin Predictor Model

ND Remains 16th in Sagarin Predictor Model

USATODAY.com

You'll see ND listed at #16 in RATING, the first of Sagarin's 3 computer models. ND is also listed at #16 in the ELO CHESS model which the BCS uses as it is PC and only considers wins and loss not Margin of Victory (MOV). Sagarin claims his third model PREDICATOR is the most accurate of his models it does include MOV. The RATING Model is an average of ELO CHESS (wiothout MOV) and PREDICTOR (with MOV).

Michigan is at #48 but MSU has pulled ahead of ND at #12. Sparty should be about a 5 point favorite at home over ND. USC and Stanford are still tougher according to Sagarin. USC would be -9 at home and SU +3 in SB.

ND is listed with the 64th Toughest Schedule as Sagarin ranks SOS by opponents played to date. Look down the list and you'll find Navy at #107 in PREDICTOR and PU at #34.

Several years ago I swapped some emails with Sagarin and he acknowledged that in the opening weeks of the season (say about 5) he weights the rankings based on last year's finish. (Just like the people polls). After those first few weeks he throws out the wieghting factor and ranks the teams on actual competition.

Mileage varies from week to week.

Were up to 20th in the new AP poll.

Mich St moves up to 10th. Also, no Gameday this week. Decided to go to Rocky Top to see Tennessee vs. Florida. SEC gets third straight week. lolzzz
