We "try" to have a little class here, unlike most other ND sites. He didn't play well, leave it at that.

hear ya. when the dust settles, we'll break some things down this week in prep for MSU. 2-0 is the key.

Unfortunately, Carlo is a liability on coverage. And other teams seem to know that. Carlo should be great against teams like MSU. But against teams that can put a fast slot or WR on him, watch out.

The 4th down touchdown throw was an obvious mismatch and an obvious passing down. Seems like a personnel mistake by the coaching staff. Gotta have your coverage linebacker in the game for that play. Where is Ben Councell? Regardless good call and throw by Purdue.

I really don't think it's kinks.. He just doesn't have speed or coverage skills so he's a liability on passing plays. It's as simple as that. He's tough as nails and a great kid but we need more athleticism there.

I can't help but wonder why they didn't have an extra DB in on that particular play, or as suggested, Ben Councell who is far and away better in coverage.

I don't know if you've noticed, but all of the available DB's were freshmen, inexperienced, or hurt.

I think a lot of the issue is coaching. When a player enters your zone, you need to be taught to go to the player, don't just stay in your zone. I don't see Carlo going to the player in his zone. I think there's obvious coaching errors, or he just doesn't realize players are in his zone. Maybe a little of both, but this has nothing to do with speed -- it's awareness.

I'm looking for Carlo to come up big against the Bell-dozer goal line situations OK brings. He will likely give way though the rest of the game to guys like shumate as OK will spread the field.

Yeah he is what he is. A very good run stuffing LB. has 5 TFL on the season. If he could play the pass a little better would be a mid round pick IMO.
