Kiper just said Tuitt was possibly the best defensive lineman in the country, nevermind the sophomore class.

Might be a bit premature, but Tuitt is an absolute freak. He will absolutely be in that discussion before his ND career is over barring injury.

Since this thread was bumped I will go ahead and post this.

Te'o on Tuitt: “He has God-given ability. You combine God-given talent with work ethic, you come out with Stephon Tuitt."

Haha dude I opened up this thread right when I heard Kiper say that, but hesitated to bump for fear of the backlash. Then I saw you were viewing, and I knew you had it covered. Well played sir.

I believe his exact words were, "Stephon Tuitt, arguably the best d-lineman in all of college football, let alone the sophomore class. "

He also mentioned Cave and his match up with K. Short and of course Manti.

It was in response to a, "games to watch" piece in Sports Center.

Just went over the espn Mel Kiper chat wrap from yesterday. He was asked a question about Tuitt.

Chat: Chat with Mel Kiper - SportsNation - ESPN

Cory (Geneva, IL)

Is Stephon Tuitt a first round player?
Mel Kiper (1:07 PM)

He's still very young. That's what you're looking at for him, the development process. He's 6-6, 303. Gifted player. He's a guy you'd normally look at and think he could be starting at LSU or Alabama. He's from Georgia. Strong, quick. He has a chance to be a great player, but he's only a sophomore.

Interesting since Clowney and Jernigan are in the same class...The 2011 class was loaded with D-linemen.

I pray that our young players can deal with success. That is always one of the toughest obstacles.

If Clowney ever develops a work ethic and quits taking so many plays off we all should pray for the well being of the quarterback he is facing every week.

Maybe we should start praying that Tuitt doesn't injure all the opposing QB's he will be sacking this year, because he does have the work ethic.

Great video! Mr. Tuitt is on the path to a very wealthy future! Thankful for whatever time we have him for!

High praise for Stephon. I believe in this kid. Seems to have it all and I agree that the sky is the limit. Love hearing about talented young players with a strong work ethic.

He certainly is amazingly talented and I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops at ND. On top of that, I have to add that I'm equally impressed with him whenever I see one of his interviews. He seems mature, humble, and really driven for such a young man. Seeing players like him and Manti representing ND makes me feel proud of the college football team I root for.
