Usually when recruits do interviews, they all say the same stuff (blah blah academics, blah blah relationship with coaches), but I was actually interested in what Deeb was saying. Great guy!

I totally agree. He comes across as a smart, dynamic and thoughtful guy. I was not initially very high on Deeb but I'm more and more impressed as I learn more about him.

This kid is great. I can't say enough about how much I like NDs linebackers in this '13 class.

Great highlights.

-puts himself in great position to make plays
-hits like a ton of bricks
-is very good at being "sneaky" in the underneath coverage and picking off the underneath passes
-plays with fire and emotion
-seems to have great instincts or a "nose for the ball"
-has a great frame to bulk up

In essence, I'm very glad this kid is Irish, and I, personally, feel he may be one of the most underrated prospects in our group. A la Chris Brown from last year.

Lou has a new feature on Deeb up on 247. I'm increasingly impressed with Deeb. Seems smart and focused, with real leadership potential.

He gave some interesting insight into the MIKE/WILL question too, which is something I've always wondered about. Apparently both Deeb and Anzalone were recruited as MIKEs. Deeb says Diaco told him that MIKE and WILL are basically the same position in different gaps; the main difference is that the MIKE makes the calls and audibles. So Diaco has told Deeb that whoever is the more vocal player, Anzalone or Deeb, will play MIKE, but it doesn't really matter.

This was news to me. I knew the positions are similar, but I thought the difference was that the WILL is the better player in coverage, while the MIKE is the better player at the point of attack (Am I using that phrase right? I hate jargon. I'm not even sure I know what "point of attack" means).
