Is it possible to be an "old timer" who fully supports alternate uniforms but happens to think this particular design/execution is embarrassing? Maybe it's just the lighting but this pic has like 4 different shades of blue in it... undershirt, jersey, pants stripe, and gloves are all slightly different.... oh helmet too... that's five shades of blue...

Yeah of course. That I understand, to each his own, thats your opinion that you don't like them and thats fine. I agree it seems like there are multiple shades of blue but we'll have to wait and see what it really looks like.

@rocket - Since all of those quotes were mine, should I assume that the people you stated "must not understand Notre Dame" was also directed to me? Since I don't know you from Joe, I certainly am not going to act like you don't understand the culture of Notre Dame. What exactly do you feel entitles you more knowledge of Notre Dame than me? Since you can accuse me of not understanding the university that generations of my family are connected to, I'm assuming you have some type of insight of the university that the rest of "no nothings" do not?

I'm overreacting? I haven't talked to one non-nd fan that likes these things. There is a poll on espn right now with 75% of the responders saying that our program isn't worth a sh!t. I am old enough to remember when we were on top of the football world, but for the last 20 years we have been steadily declining. Mow, its not just our play on the field that's declining, its our brand.

You're right about the old-school look....hadn't thought of that. I'm torn on whether or not to pick one up right now - I hope the fit is traditional, and not a tech-fit.

ESPN really? They have a vested interest in making ND look bad. And a poll of those mouth-breathing idiots that populate ESPN's comment sections? I respect your opinion on the unis despite disagreeing with it. I'm not going to bash you for it either, but looking to ESPN to gauge anything without bias is hypocritical in and of itself.

The uniform isn't changing.
In fact, the new golden helmet is the most glorious thing I've witnessed on a football field.

Also keep in mind that technically Notre Dame created the whole alternate uniform thing with our green jerseys.

This alternate sucks, but i've already forgotten about the horrible Shamrock Series uniform from last year.
This one will be forgotten about five minutes after the games over, UNLESS, God forbid, some miracle loss happens and then it'll be shown forever.

This talk about the "soul of the University" is nonsense. Notre Dame has a wide and diverse brand and in football they have the regular uniforms (which haven't changed thank you very much and have actually been improved) and they now have a 1 time a year alternate uniform for the foreseeable future.

Fans' over the top, ridiculous, and anger-fueled rants over one uniform for one game do much more to damage the Notre Dame brand.

I just don't think Adidas corp dick is that long.

Otherwise they would just lock people into a contract and that would be it. Instead they have people like Jack Swarbrick talking smoothly for them.

I picked up an "Under the Lights" last year and it fit like a normal jersey.

Avoid the authentic if you don't want the skin tight no sleeves look or, like me, lack a perfect build.

I know my man. I know you're frustrated. But I really don't care what other people think about ND though. Those are the same people that are either ignorant to or just fail to act like ND has different standards both academically and/or character wise than all but what two or three schools at the major D1 level. They also fail to act like the SEC gets a pass as far as recruiting infractions and such. The same type of people who hate ND just like people hate the Yankees. And as unlikely as it seems they are the same people that will be on the bandwagon when we win again. Or they'll have an unending and irrational hate despite the winning.

C'mon Wooly...do better than that. The poll simply asked if ND was an elite program or not. We haven't been, so of course there are 75% saying that we're not. I'm surprised it's not more.

Your take on that poll isn't even close to what it really represented. And I could give a rat's arse what other football fans think. They've always hated ND. (And ask your non-ND fans about their schools' grad rates while you're at it...)
