What is the "uniform surprise"?

This all makes for great marketig hype and recruiting, and i think its prety cool, but i feel like every time we come out in an alternate uni it loses it meaning. For example, lets say we have a huge home game (ala USC 2005) and we bust out the green jerseys, i feel like the reaction would just be "oh ND is coming out in a different uni for the 3rd time is year." Im all for keeping with the times and bringing in recruits, but im starting to think we are becoming Adidas' Oregon.

considering the Irish dont have 17 different helmets, 34 different jerseys, 63 pants, and 48 shoe and sock combos, I think they are still far from the Adidas version of Oregon.

Do alternate jerseys need to have meaning? That "meaning" didn't help in 2002 or 2005 or 2007. Alternate jerseys are popular with recruits, make money, and are cool to see on the field. Once ND starts having bad alternate jerseys I'll start to dislike them, but Notre Dame is like 100 for 100 on alternate jerseys.

You guys are killing me.... WE INVENTED THE ALTERNATE JERSEY THING! You know that, right? WE started the thing, not Oregon, or anyone else. Its OUR thing to set these kinds of trends. THAT is our "tradition".

Swatch 1: no clue, pants is best guess since stitching is similar to my football pants

Swatch 2: Addidas said they were gloves

Swatch 3: the helmet

Swatch 4: the chest of the jersey

Black jerseys with gold numbers would be pretty sick. I don't think they would do it but I really wouldn't be opposed.

Some how over the years the blue has gotten darker and darker so they might as well be black.

I was thinking green jerseys and green pants with the gold helmet.
