I see what your saying. but we won't be taking 9 more.

I agree, I personally think 5-6 because I believe most of the quality 5th years we would want back will go to the NFL. Just my opinion though. :)

not sure how to post it to the internet, WhiskyJack does though, he can supply it for ya (if he wants)

Eric Hansen: Steve, the two medical hardships opened up two more scholarships. If Prestwood doesn't return, that's three more. At the start of fall camp, if every fifth-year senior came back (and that won't happen), ND had room for 17. Now that base figure is 19 or 20. You can assume at least three of the fifth years won't come back, so now you're at 22 or 23. If say Cierre Wood or Zack Martin head to the NFL after this year, then that's 24 or 25. I don't think there's a worry about the numbers. Biggest needs still? Elite cornerbacks, a wide receiver who can stretch defenses, a running back and defensive ends ... in that order.

Eric Hansen' quote above from his live chat earlier in the week on sbt.com. My wish list based off of these needs:

Elite CBs: Alexander, Moore
WR: Treadwell
DE: AQM, Sherit(flip)

Unfortunately I just don't see Sherit flipping and Treadwell is a long shot. Love the other choices though. As the year goes on, more names will come out of the woodwork - they always do.

I hear ya. In regards to Treadwell, I think the same reason above - it's still a long way to go unti NSD - is why I'm still holding out hope!

I feel as if Treadwell is just looking for a reason to pull the trigger.

and where do you think he is aiming when pulling that trigger??

That is what I'm wondering also FLDomer

i have felt that treadwell was going to commit to michigan a long time ago...he hasn't just yet but still has them #1...IMO he didn't want to be told he couldn't go on other visits..he knows he is their homerun for WR and they will hold a spot regardless of what they say...they NEED him...that being said...the magic of ND gets to people who "get it" but i just don't see this being one of them....when was the last time we had a player end up panning out/staying that was flashy and had tons of "swag" for you younger people...the people ND gets and that get ND are not those kind of players! we don't have success w/ the look at me type players...i would say the only one who even strikes me that kind of way is cierre

We need to have a Shamrock signal (AKA THE Bat signal)to flash in the sky and have the IRISHMOB (AKA League of Justice) to go grab Treadwell and lead him to safety in the arms of Notre Dame.

That would be cool to see J Smith and the MOB come flying in as the ND Shamrock is signaled in the sky as a recruite in distress is lied to and deceited by the evil Wolverines and Trojans.

I think a runningback is needed for this class now though, will lost Roberson and will probably lose 2 in Theo and Cierre after this season. That really only leaves GAIII, Carlisle, Mahone, and James at the RB position moving forward. Would definitely like to add another speed back (Folston is my #1 choice left on the board)

DE AQM Hooper
CB Moore Alexander
WR Hunter,

Why do we need two more corners? We have 6 on scholarship currently (7 if you include Shumate), and are getting two more, three depending on Fuller, coming in next year and losing none.

Both Muhammad's, Hooper, Moore, and Hunter would be awesome.

Although I wish we were going after a big DT.

Per Sapp we are looking to take:

1 slot/ RB
1 WR
1 DB/ S
1 DE/ OLB
1 Open

He said he heard we are not taking a scholly punter.

If no punter, then there is not a really good one out there, or, if there is, Brindza is looking better in camp.

1 slot RB: Khalfani Muhammad
1 WR: Treadwell
1 DB: Mackenzie Alexander
1 DE: Alquaddin Muhammad
OPEN: LJ Moore

I would love if we filled the class out like that, and Treadwell is the only "longshot"

Sapp also said today that he thinks Torii Hunter, Austin Hooper, and LJ Moore are the best bets to commit.

LJ Moore is the next big piece IMO. Legit cornerback from the west coast that will really solidify this DB haul and allow us to wait patiently for an elite DB to make a decision in January/February.

I like Austin H. but do you take him and risk losing out on the Bosco boy? Bosco kids are notorious for waiting until after their senior seasons to hit the recruiting scene. I think Muhammed is a stud and gives us that speed rush threat. Would certainly round out an impressive front seven.

Obviously you take Hunter if he wants on board. MVP honors at the opening is no joke. Treadwell is just playing the recruiting game IMO. He's Michigan bound.

Just my thoughts.

Hiawatha (Kan.) High School defensive end Peyton Newell already has 15 offers, and he will be making trips to several of those schools this fall.

The 6-foot-2, 275-pound junior has already visited a handful of programs, and he will be making at least seven more visits for games in the coming months.

Newell’s father, Frank, said his son will visit Kansas (Sept. 15), Oklahoma State (Sept. 29), Kansas State (Oct. 6), Missouri (Oct. 13), Nebraska (Oct. 27), Notre Dame (Nov. 17) and Texas A&M (Nov. 24) for games this season.
