I think they did it just to get ppl. off their back since in Sapp's Friday update he said it isn't "official" still

Pretty sure that was a combination of ego bias and lack of confirmations from their source within the program. Regardless, it has been slightly ridiculous that what would have constituted as a verbal for any of the other commits on their radar did not make the grade for another recruit. Kind of disappointed in 247 with this. I follow all except Scout, and this was the only group of analysts that would not reaffirm this commitment. I'm not saying this is the strongest verbal we've ever had, but you need to take recruit's words "as is" in this game. I think 247 took the wrong stand with this recruitment, and, quite frankly, other groups within 247 have declared commitments with less substantiation in the past.

Everyone was out of the loop on this committment, it came from left field. I don't think 247 has a reason to be slighted that they got scooped. Corey Robinson scooped them all. Sapp was likely told by someone within the team that they had to get his transcripts cleared before it was a done deal. Now the longer it goes on obviously the stranger it gets but I am betting he just hasn't heard back from his source.

It's annoying how vague they have to be. I'll give Jason the benefit of the doubt and assume there's good reason for it, but I wish he could tell us exactly what the hold up is, instead of just saying that they have to 'gain knowledge that the next step has been taken,' whatever that means. I mean, I can guess what's going on, but I feel like I shouldn't have to.

That's how he always talks though. I get that it is frustrating, it is for me sometimes too, but he is just trying to stay as professional as possible. Go read some articles on Bucknuts by their fan boy editor Keurlic and you will get a better appreciation.

Of course you are right. Good point about Bucknuts; I shouldn't take Sapp for granted.

Can't agree more, this kid is a monster out there, and plays down in Tx where there is obvious legit talent. His upper body strength after a year of training at the college level, he's gonna be punishing defenses.

I love how he seems to love taking on contact and trucking the defender. He's got some solid speed in the open field as well. Kid's going to be a great complement to some of the running backs that will be on the roster when he gets to SB.

I believe that video is from his sophomore year, which is when he caught the eye of a lot of college coaches. Last year, he came in a little out of shape, and he didn't seem to put in the same effort. Hoping his head is in the right place this season. I've heard he's looked like he's in better shape

We all know recruiting rankings are skeptical but fans go crazy over them-see Dion the wr, Tyler and Hafis the lineman. Now Chris Brown supposedly lighting it up- a 3 star. Matt Carufel?

This kid is pretty darned complete.

That play toward the end when they shifted into what looked like an old power-I, and ran a student body right, and he outran his blocking, and the defense, should put the criticism of his speed to rest.

Per Sapp Jamel said he is completely done with the process and will not visit other schools. Obviously recruiting is fluid and things can change, especially if he has a good senior year and other schools come calling.
