If Ebenezer commits next, Lax's run of 5 straight on here is over with.

Oh, the peaks and valleys of emotions while following ND recruiting.

Defensive back recruiting is the storm cloud raining on an otherwise wonderful parade... hope the staff can get some more solid recruits during the season...

of course without losing any of our current commits :)

a "Gathering Storm" perhaps, former naval person?

How many are we taking this year? What is the probable fifth year count? I'm sure it is back in the thread somewhere but I am too lazy to search it out. I start to wonder if we need to save space, if we have a good season I could see some late 5 star talent jumping on the bandwagon.

My top two targets are VH3 and Alexander by a pretty large margin. Missing on both would be disappointing to me.

1) Alquadin Muhammad
2) MacKenzie Alexander
3) Jordan Sherit
4) RB/WR(?)
5) Punter(?)

Of course if there is any elite player who wants in I wouldn't say no.

The magic number is 25 right now. Might jump to 26 is Roberson takes a medical. 5Ys is probably 3-6; my guess is 4. That means 21-22 total spots, or 4-5 more for 2013 frosh.

I dont see a reason to keep 4 of the 5th years. The people I would want back could very easily go to the NFL. No reason to take both Fox and Calabrese, hell ND would be fine without either of them next year.

The problem for Calabrese is that he really is a Mike but unfortunately for him we have the best MLB in the country there. Next year I think he might be able to play there.

Interesting comment on Power Hour... not sure who the caller is (Coach D?)... but he said something about many kids going "eff taking a foreign language or math" and ruling out ND that way.... and mentioned a RB this year as an example. Anyone know who they were referring to?

i thought he said rb from last year...but its not that great of sound..so not sure

There's no doubt we would welcome C. Wood, Z. Martin, and Watt back if they wanted to return. Wood seems to most likely to bolt for the draft, and Watt the least likely. Martin's probably a coin flip, depending on his draft grade.

Tausch could play himself into a 5Y. May also depend on Brindza's progress this year.

I expect we'll bring back either Fox or Calabrese (probably Fox). We've got talent behind them, but I doubt the coaching staff wants to two new starters at ILB in 2013.

3 or 4 5Ys seems most likely at this point.

Maybe Byron Marshall from last year?

IIRC, his commitment was basically in the bag, and we expected to receive it during his visit for the USC game. Do we now think he was put off by the need to take extra classes to pass admissions?

It was a foreign language issue.

Right. I'm wondering if anyone else shares my recollection that Marshall was allegedly ready to commit, but got turned away when he tried because of a transcript deficiency. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the new story is that we were ready to accept his commitment, contingent upon his fulfilling the foreign language requirement, to which he said no thanks?

That sucks. Same result, but stings a little more for some reason.

Must have misheard I thought he said this year. If he said last year then I know who he is talking about.

Offensive side of the ball officially closed???

That is my thought after Fuller. The rest of the class should be filled on the defensive side of the ball unless ND puts Fuller on DB and still looks for a WR.

I think we will still take one of Hunter or Boyd. I prefer Boyd because I think he is a better receiver than Hunter and can also play Safety.

I would love to get Boyd, his athleticism jumps out immediately on the the first play of his film. Aside from my pipe-dream of landing Alexander and my most realistic shot at a defensive stud in Muhammed, Boyd is the guy!

Aside from those guys I'm at a loss for who could be the remainders for the class. Feels weird to have so many commits before the season even starts.

And a big time surprise would be just fine with me.

Maybe K. Muhammad if there is room.
