It's a shame when one/a couple have taken upon themselves the task of censoring everything that he/they deem fit because it doesn't fit their need. It's also a shame when others feel the need to cower and just lurk because the fear the ramifications of what will happen to them if they speak their mind.

Some like to hide in the wings and lurk....and that's great. Can't argue against that. I choose to throw it out there. This thread is not a flame job and is in it's proper place in the Lounge. Nothing mean spirited or looking for a fight. Just stating an opinion and how I see things.

I agree with you crash.

However, I, for one, am glad that some of the complete knuckle-headed bullsh!t DOES get called out on here.

There are a select few (you know whom you are) that NEED to be censored or at least nudged in the right direction because they are too damn ignorant to do it themselves... (how's that for speaking my mind )

In the last week or so I've read some pretty ignorant garbage on here that needed to be brought to light on just how stupid it was, and I reiterate that I'm GLAD it was...

Freedom of speech is a good freedom. As all philosophers of governmental systems have pointed out across the ages, there are no freedoms which do not bring with them a concomitant seriousness of responsibility. Accepting the freedom means accepting the responsibility. Without such resolve in the "citizenry" no society can stand.

Most of us who graduated from Notre Dame, in fact, got the message that it was the responsibility part which comprises the greater. Freedom is about the individual; responsibility is about the group. The older I have gotten, the importance of the group has become greater and greater... in family, in Notre Dame football, in life.
