Stanford pulls some big time recruits and a lot of time they haven't even been on campus yet. And they stick with their verbal as long as they get into school. They are on a roll.

Will OV CAl, A&M and Stanford. Still deciding on last two. UCLA and ND are still after him pretty hard and he really is intrigued by Oregon.

That's awesome! It wouldn't hurt my feelings in the slightest if he ended up here! If anything it's great that he won't be there. Hopefully our Hawaiin brotheren have gotten in his ear and peaked his interest!

Just curious where did u see he is interested in ND?

All I can find is this

“@TaylorHamm247: GigEm247 mentioned Hawaii LB Isaac Savaiinaea as an A&M target back in February. 247Sports has confirmed his de-commitment from Stanford.”

I would take this guy as the last LB of the class, if the staff were to call it quits with just one spot left.

Interesting situation with Deeb, Mattingly, Smith, maybe Anzalone and Isaac. If we don't get Anzalone, no problem, but if we get Anzalone and Isaac, does Deeb decommit?

We are talking "what if Issac commits" when we aren't among his standouts?

no it hasnt, Diaco wants two ILBs... No one should be scared off by Deeb's commitment.

Any running back or QB committing to Mich, Mich st, USC etc. should be! Deeb has that "don't f*** with me" look to him! Couldn't be more excited about the current LB class. A lot of potential.

isn't AA considered an ILB at the Will?? i guess that's what i was thinking is that we're holding out for him. wouldn't he give us 2 ILB's should he commit?? This is why we may be full if AA were to commit correct?

I'm not clear on our current MLB depth. Do we need 2 guys who will see the field next year or do we have the luxury of redshirting one (or more)?

no, we have Rabasa, Grace, and Utupo in the waiting. I guess Alex could be in the two deep for ILB next year if we get him. Deeb will probably not see the field. LB core is pretty deep and stacked, the only LB in this class that will see a lot of PT next year is Jaylon Smith. OLB is stacked as well, but Jaylon has to be on the field somewhere.

Utupo is playing DL now I believe. At least I think I saw him there in the spring as a pass rusher.

Anybody know if we can get a visit or not?

EDIT: 247 article says he will definitely visit ND. Don't know if it's premium, so I won't post quotes. Also seems to say a big negative is that coming from the same school as Manti he's been compared to him his entire career and he doesn't want to deal with that anymore... which is what he would have to do at ND.

Isaac Savaiinaea opens up his recruitment

According to multiple mods, we're definitely recruiting him.

That's interesting. Who would have thought that Manti would hurt our recruitment of a Hawaiian.

But hey... if he really wants to get out of Manti's shadow, then going to Notre Dame gives him an opportunity to proceed Manti. If he has a better career than Manti (maybe win a championship?), then he can be proactive in getting out of his shadow. Going to another school certainly blazes his own trail, but that doesn't help him get out of Manti's shadow.

I hope he can see Notre Dame as an opportunity to prove himself and take on an ultimate challenge. Going somewhere else is the easy way out.

Just typin'...
