Bombers Roll Again Against The Birds.

Bombers Roll Again Against The Birds.

German posted his MLB leading 9th win. Sanchez staked NY to a 3 run lead with a 1st inning 3 run HR. Frazier drove in 5 with 2 HRs.

Yanks win raises lead to 2 games with TB and BoSox both losing.

It's always a good day when the Pinstripes win and the Red Sox lose.

Sabathia to injured list with knee inflammation.

CC Sabathia to injured list as it gets harder for Yankees
By Post Sports Desk May 23, 2019 | 9:22am

CC Sabathia made it eight starts before his knee complained.

https://nypost.com/2019/05/23/cc-sabathia-to-injured-list-as-it-gets-harder-for-yankees/

The big left-hander is going on the injured list, the Yankees announced Thursday, with right knee inflammation, a day after he labored through five innings in a 7-5 win over Baltimore.

Aaron Boone said the knee — the same one that has bothered Sabathia for years — was “barking,” and the 38-year-old made it through 88 pitches, allowing five runs (four earned), before he had to bow out.

“It makes it hard to land,” Sabathia said after the game. “It’s a shooting pain that goes through me every time. It makes it hard to finish pitches.”

In a year that has claimed so many Yankees, with Luis Severino still yet to pitch and James Paxton missing a few starts, Sabathia is the latest.

“We’ve had so many injuries,” he said. “Everybody’s had to do what they can to make up for that and do our part.”

BREAK UP THE SCRANTON YANKEES!

BREAK UP THE SCRANTON YANKEES!

7 in a row!

Happ won the opener and Chance Adams who flew to KC via Syracuse and Chicago won the nightcap for his first major league win. The usual collection of "who?" provided the offense.

Hey the win streak is over the Orioles and Royals but I'll take 'em. They're necessary wins. Sports Projections on CBS currently projects NY to win 96.8 games on the season. They project TB to win 95.9 and Boston to win 95.4.

Right now the Scranton Yankees at 34-17, .667, have the 2nd best % in MLB, MN at 35-16, .686 is the only one with a better record.

German goes for win #10 on Sunday.

Gleyber is starting to piss me off.
Is he only good against the Orieles?
He was on fire then just cant get anywhere near the thing.

How about German 9-2.

0-2 against KC allowing 6 HRs and 10 ERs in 2 games.

Against the rest of MLB he's 9-0 allowing 3 HRs and 13 ERs in 9 games.

NY bounced back with a win against the Padres, 5-2. Hale got his first win in 4 years as part of an ensemble of 6 pullpen pitchers.

I've got to stop talking these rookies up and let em develop in their own time.

Dug a big hole

Dug a big hole

Padres had 4 runs before Tanaka got anyone out. LeMathieu opened with an error at 3rd on the leadoff hitter. Two singles followed before a 3 run shot to Monument Park.

Gio The Glove Urshela has the night off.

Too Deep

Too Deep

NY couldn't overcome the 4-0 hole they dug losing 5-4. They scored 3 runs in the 7th but Sanchez left the tying and lead runs in scoring position. Sanchez hit a solo HR earlier in the game.

TB closes to 1 behind.

Sox lose stay 6.5 out.

Paxton Nearly Perfect.

Paxton Nearly Perfect.

Coming off DL limited to 75 pitches, he threw 66 allowing No Hits, No Runs, 2 BB, while striking out 7 on 17 swings and misses.

NY offense scored with BIG hits and small ball. LeMahieu and Voit went Back to Back in the first inning. Urshela and Torres also hit out of the park while Voit added a triple. In the 6, Maybin singled, stole 2nd, then stole 3rd, and scored when the catcher's throw went into left field.

The Yankees are 28-9 since April 19 -- the best record in MLB over that span -- and they haven't dropped consecutive games since May 1.

TB kept pace, 1 game behind, with a 1 run extra inning win. BoSox got roughed up against Cleveland 14-9 and fell 7.5 behind.

Happ (4-3, 5.09) opens against a 4 game set against Boston's Sale (1-6, 4.19) to begin a four-game series at home on Thursday. Happ is 8-4 vs. the Red Sox.

The win over the Padres was NY's 8th straight Series win. They haven't done that since '98 when the won the World Seriousness.

BoSox @ NY tonight has been postponed Thursday before an impending storm.

Apparently a Boston weatherman got wind of the Scranton scrubs.

I am going to the game tomorrow night. I am excited because the rainout means German is pitching instead of a bunch of relievers.

Scranton wins again! 5-4

gk, brought home a winner!

Sale struck out 10 in 6 innings but allowed 4 runs. Happ only pitched 5 innings but only gave up 1 run.

LeMathieu 2 hits, HR & 2B, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored was all the offense the Ynakees needed.

Sox fall 8.5 back, TB also loses, 1.5 back.

Only complaint is why would Morales be DH over Frazier?
Another question: is the sample size big enough now that Urshella is the real deal and not just in some weird vein of form?

I would say no. In parts of 5 seasons including this one, he's got 602 ABs, about a regular seasons worth, in 212 games hittting .249 BA/.299 OBP/.350 SLG. This has definitely been a breakout year ... so far, hitting .331, .384, .471 but his ABs amount to about 22% of a season's worth.

Without 2019 he's a career .225 hitter.
