Yanks got even tonight with the A's 11-5 behind Nova.

NY tied for First AL East only division where teams are separated from top to bottom by only 1 game (3 @ 5-4; 2 @ 4-5). Other division's spread ranges from 3 to 7 games.

Jeter NOT playing like an old man. Had another mutli-hit night, HR and 2B with 3 RBIs. It's early and the sample is obviously small BUT he had 6 HRs last season and hit #3 tonight. He hit 24 doubles last year and he got #4 tonight. He had 61 RBIs in '11 and got #6 tonight. He's hitting .366. He had 162 hits last year and has 15 through 9 games, or 1.67 hits/game which is a career pace.

His 15 hits puts him 7 hits behind Dave Winfield.

I saw it live. You want to see a home run go watch Josh Hamiltons home run against the twins at a pitchers ball park 447 feet. Or travis hafners home run at KC hit it into the bar at 481 feet.

No one said it was better or worse than any other players' home runs. Distance is not the only factor. It's how high you hit the ball. If Raul hit his home run with the same power but at the optimal height it would have gone a whole lot farther than it did

Yankee stadium is a joke. According to ESPN it was only 415 feet.

thats because it hit in upper deck. if stands were not there that ball goes a long way. no one was saying it was the longest homerun ever. I just said it was crushed. The espn announcers even said it would not of matter what park you was hitting in that would have been homerun. watch the video and at the end of it shows tori hunter and he just says wow.

Jeets is tearing up it, but since 2 of those HRs were hit in Yankee Stadium they have an asterisk next to them.

Yanks lose to the Twins again! 6-5

Jeter 3-5 trails Winfield by a hit for 19th place on the All-Time Hit List.

In the bottom of the ninth with NY down by 2, Jeter had a 10 ptich at bat. He looked at two strikes, a foul, a ball, 4 fouls, a ball then hit his 4th HR of the year. Meanwhile, ARod has 1 HR, Cano got his first tonight, and Teixeira is still looking for his first.

Jeter's up to .389. Hitting at a pace for 284 hits, 54 Hrs, 135 RBI.

Yanks are gonna need those career numbers, Kuroda gave up 4 runs to the first 5 Twins batter's he faced tonight. NY pitching is a cold as Jeter is hot.

Jeter's stats going back to July 9th of last year (the day got #3000):

320 Abs, 111 hits, 52 runs, 8HRs, 48 RBI, .347 BA, .394 OB%.

Roughly a half season for the sample size (77 games).

Studly.

I know he's swung the bat well since he got 3,000 but didn't realize it was .347.

After tying Dave Winfield last night for 19th place on the All-Time Hit List, Jeter took it over with an infield single against the BoSox this afternoon. NY leads the Sox in the Swamp 3-1 at the end of 3.

Jeter has 3,111 and trails Tony Gwynn by 30, Yount by 31, Waner by 41, Brett by 43, Ripken by 73, Lajoie by 131, Murray by 144, and Mays by 172. Staying healthy, Mays is reachable this year.

Getting to the level of Eddie Collins, 3,315, # 10 on the All-Time Hit List would take a season of at 227 hits which would take a career year. His All-Time best is 219 in '99. He had 214 in '06 and 212 in '09. He played in 153 to 158 games in his big hit seasons and has only played less than 150 games 3 times in his career including 131 last season.

Fenway turns 100 today, let's spoil it.

Workin' on it. NY up 5-1 after 4-1/2.

Yanks manufactured a run in the 1st. Jeter safe on an error, took second on a wild pitch and scored on a ARod single. Since then it's all HRs. Swisher and Chavez went deep in the 2nd. Ortiz answered in the bottom half. Chavez again in the 4th and ARod in the 5th. Nova and Buchholz have the mound.

How has Nova looked? I just got home from work and it's hard to tell on Gamecast.

I haven't been watching, just checking the Gamecast now and then. Nova's the de facto leader of the pitching corps. The NY starters have an ERA of 5.22 with Nova at 3.79 and 6 outs from 3-0.

Meanwhile the Sox pitchers are going through baseballs faster than Obama through tax money. They gave up 6 on Tuesday and 5 so far today.

Happy 100th!

Question. Why are some of you Yankees fans? I can understand people like Mr. Larson who live in NY but why do you other people not from NY like them?

Yeah I figured because of your Rangers, Giants, and Knicks icons. I'm talking about the people with Yankees, Lakers, and Cowboys/ Steelers icons.
