I think Jimbo has a lot of constituencies here and fans of other programs aren't high on the list. Nor, unfortunately are the victims of crimes his players have potentially committed.
He's making a calculated decision - presumably with the backing of at least his AD and probably major FSU booster/donors - that supporting his players will win him more points with the people who matter. His players will trust him and be glad he's defending them. FSU fans will circle the wagons, as they have, and declare this some media-driven gold-digger witch hunt. As long as the Seminoles keep winning and the FSU administration supports him, what's he got to worry about?
Either that or he's a complete idiot, which seems unlikely.
What I don't get is that there must be elements of the FSU community who see this for what it is, and probably players on the team who are sick of the sideshow. Right? When do they get a say in all this?

Even with everything that has happened FSU is nowhere level the level of contempt I had for the SC teams in the mid 200's... the "U" Miami teams or just about any Bama team that ever won more than six games...

All the ess eee cee backers/apologists/homers are unabashedly bashing on fsu. They are literally appalled at the school's behavior.

And fsu's behavior is appalling. But they'd barely notice nor care if this were Colorado or Illinois. They feign disgust because fsu is a very real threat to every school in their sacred conference.
