I’m so happy for the Quinn family, I’m happy for the Tkachuk family,… I’m happy for Helli and Mijo getting the ‘can’t win the big one off their neck,… I just wish Jason Robertson could have been here,…

Speaking of the Tkatchuks, both of them were on a milk carton tonight. That line with them and Eichel had surprisingly little impact on the game. I thought your best forwards were Matthews, who was unreal defensively as a back checker, Boldy who was opportunistic and Hughes, who skated really well and obviously netted the game winner.

Neither team's top line had the scoring impact that one would expect today. Both goalies played well though and Helle was INSANE, so that's not surprising.

I really hope that this U.S. win further vaults hockey into the mainstream in USA. It's a fantastic game. Fast pace. High skill. Huge hits. Fighting is legal. What's not to like?

This win should have American kids around the country wanting to get out on the ice!

I think historically the issue with American hockey is it has been basically 3/4 states doing all the lifting. (MN,WI, MI, MA). Ice sheets are going up everywhere all the time. The more ice the better. You get more kids playing in unconventional locations and you'll find some good kids.

More kids, more competition. End of the day, like most sports it's a numbers game to some degree. Easier to capitalize on a 2026 gold than 1980. There is just a shit ton more places with hockey facilities now. We'll still lean on the main states but getting hockey on its feat in the sunny states will pay dividends over time.

I’ll say it,… this has been a GREAT NHL season too,… stay locked in guys. It’s a more interesting and more fun league than the other theee major sports leagues right now
Yes it has! A little reckless speculation… I’m hoping Guerin can pull a trade to get Jack Hughes on the Wild to play with his brother!!

I’m in shock I never thought I’d see the USA win gold over Canada in men’s hockey. Especially after the heartbreaks in 02 & 2010

Didn't think it was going to happen today with the way Canada thoroughly dominated regulation, but as the game wore on and Helle was clearly on his game, I starting believing more and more that's where we were heading!

2x breakaway saves, the unbelievable paddle save on Toews in the goal crease, then Mackinnon and Celebrini missed wide open, empty nets with about 7 minutes left in regulation... At that point I really believed it was going to go USA's way. At that high a level you only get so many chances to win before the other team hits you with a counter attack.

Both McDavid and MacKinnon were -2 for the night. McD had only 2 shots on goal

When Brady was firing everyone up saying, ‘We WILL win this game!’ I started to believe,… not because what he said was so different than what you’d expect, it just had a feeling to it,…

Kopitar for sure. Sakku Koivu was another who was an incredible leader.

Not a single Wisconsinite on the gold medal team, yet there were 11 players from MO, NY, CT, CO, AK, OH, PA, MT, and AZ.

Florida is the fastest rising hockey zone in the world. All the former NHL'ers kids. All the rich Toronto families send their kids down there.

Biggest thing for maintaining the top spot for Canada is ensuring that we still have them maintain nationality with us lol otherwise we're so cooked.

For me it was when MacKinnon, a top 3 player in the world, inexplicably missed a wide open net on the cross seem pass from Celebrini. He makes that play in his sleep usually and scored a similar goal to beat Finland. With as good Helle was playing, you just can't miss those chances when you clearly have him out of position and beat.

At that point I felt strongly the Americans were going to get it done on a counter attack. Too much talent on the ice to squander opportunities like that. Hell, I even guessed the correct goal scorer :)

I don't want to get political but holy fuck what a horrible bird the Canadian goose is. Just a putrid disgusting animal.

This goes hard af. If it takes losing the gold for the rest of eternity to rid us of these creatures I'd do it.

Those shit birds sure as hell made Sully earn his pay though.
