Will ND Steal PSU Players?

I looked around IrishEnvy and couldn't find this topic anywhere. Since PSU players will beable to transfer and compete right away, is it likely ND will try to steal a few?

There was a thread on this on 247. Sapp mentioned a couple of CB and WR recruits he thinks we'll go after, as discussed elsewhere on the site. Wiltfong thinks it's just too early to say if we'll be inviting any transfers though, especially because every program in the country will be looking at Penn State's roster with the same idea.

I have to admit, that was the first thing I thought of when I heard that players could transfer without penalty. I haven't watched Penn State play enough to know if there are any players that might help, but it would be great if a couple of upcoming juniors that play DB would want to come to ND. While wishing, maybe a RB & WR in the same class as well. I am happy with what the staff has hauled in already, but it's like sex, a fellow always wants a little more.

That's a good point, but ND should be in a better position than most here. Penn State has long been the default CFB program of the northeast. It's only recently that ND has started making a serious run on that territory. Now that PSU is in ruins, ND is unrivaled for that position.

Absolutely! Over the next few years we should see a few more kids opt this way just in numbers crunch alone.

I can't remember for sure & I am too busy trying to catch up on here to look back and see, but wasn't Justin Brown on ND's radar coming out of high school? Too many Justin's play football, they all run together

No players that are currently on their roster. They are really not any players that would be a significant upgrade to ND's current team. Why waste the scholarship?

Indeed it does. Dirty or not though, some of these kids will jump. Not sure it's a bad thing hoping they jump here. Not sure about DBs. If memorty serves, they only have one 2 or 3 star CB.

It not dirty if the kids are on pace to graduate. And since they must be to transfer into Notre Dame, I have no problem. It's a Machiavellian world out there.

Buster, you're on point, but not sure ND, or BK would go after. They might "accept", but I don't see them pressing any of these kids.

On the DB side of things. Looked at their depth chart and eligibility chart.... looks far worse then ours. Only one 4 star CB, and one 4 star S over the last 4 years according to Scout. There are several other talented kids, including a few WRs and LBs I wouldn't mind "accepting" transfers from.

Really do not see anyone who can transfer in from PSU that would be an immediate help. Maybe some CB's to help with depth but that do not see someone on the roster that would be an upgrade over who the team has right now.

As far as recruiting, Sickels is really the only target. Brenamen is recovering from an ACL and I read that teams were trying to sway Huerman by saying ND is taking 3TE's (Mattingly, Matsuka).
