Osita Ekwonu. Sounds like he’s a NW visit away from announcing. Which should come in the next couple/few weeks.

I wonder if we’re about to go on another 7 commits in 7 days type of hot streak.

Kiser -> Baumann -> Osita -> Zeke -> Kyren -> Hart -> Mertz (jk!)

I like the thinking. I’d say ND has a bunch of candidates who could potentially pull the trigger.

2019
Graham Mertz (if he snuck onto campus this weekend)
Brendon Clark
Kyren Williams
Zeke Correll
Osita Ekwonu

2020
AJ Henning
Daniel Jackson
Michael Mayer
Rylie Mills
Braiden McGregor

I’d wager if we saw a run we could see something like

Ekwonu-Jackson-Mayer-Correll-Williams-Clark/Mertz

That would be something out of a dream but never stop dreaming.

Graham Mertz secretly flies in on a paraglider in the dead of night to give his commitment to BK this weekend.

So ND now has 18 commits in the current class. Where do they land in total on NSD? Over or under 20? I'll take the latter.

Here’s a total guesstimate on their board left and the positions that might need a body or two.

DE - Bralen Trice, Isaiah Foskey, Joshua Pakola
DB - Isaiah Rutherford, Max Williams
LB - No Apparent Prospects
OL - Enokk Vimahi, Walter Rouse
BPA - Cornelius Johnson, Genson Hooper-Price

DL is the only real position that needs a body and I think Bralen Trice is the most likely to fill that spot unless Josh Pakola comes in this weekend and is blown away by his visit (highly doubtful because he’s a Stanford silent I’m guessing). DB has 16 players signed for next season so they could use one more guy and I think they definitely want one of the two west coast guys but idk if they can get them. I’d love to get Isaiah Rutherford. LB has 12 guys signed and I think they are a position that could use another body but they don’t have any prospects that seem remotely interested in ND on their board. That could change with flipping season coming soon. OL is to the point where they’ve made their numbers but they love Vimahi and Rouse. I think Rouse commits to Stanford and Vimahi is a long shot which sucks cause ND got them both on campus. They’ve done probably all they could do though. Last spot I just wrote down best player available and it is two WR’s but I just added who was offered and who might still be being recruited by ND. I’d love to see ND get to 23 commits but it seems like an uphill climb. I think Bralen Trice is the next ND commit.

I think all of these guys are going to be tough to pull. WR is done unless the staff feels there is room. The Cali kids are all long shots IMO. I think we may have a shot at Trice, but even there I m skeptical. OL is done too, IMO. I also agree another LB would be great. At the end of the day I think the max will be 2, maybe 21 but no more.

I'd say 20-21. Most have said this would be a small class, including the staff

Seems like every time we were supposed to have a small class, we didn’t have a small class.

Next year's class will be small, but don't worry because we have a lot of high 4 star recruits very high on ND!!1!

Not really. If you asked most recruitniks, my guess would be, anything below 25 "a full class", is considered a small class. Above 25 is a big class. Only 1 time in the 9 completed Kelly classes has ND ever went to or above 25. That was 18' class with 27. The previous high was 23, which was achieved 5 times. If you back out 18' which is the outlier and the clear change in recruiting tactic, it would seem. The previous 8 cycle avg. is approx. 22. Again, which most would call a small class with 25 being a full class.

If we do not get one kid form Cali this year, Brian Polian should be ashamed. That's his territory.

I certainly wouldn't go that far. In his short tenure he's down well, just like with Lyght, one cycle doesn't make a recruiter.

Lyght has bounced back very well form his days as the "ashamed" recruiter.

Who's next, I'll go Bralen Trice. Right now I think we can hold off UW and Oregon, time will tell.

On numbers, I think we'll certainly be taking a couple/few more players so we'll get to 21ish. If not with players on the board, we'll add new players as senior seasons play out.

Ok board, we all see the CBs for Trice and Rutherford. What other position does ND go after?

Writing on the wall........Trice and Rutherford.

These are freaking huge. I feel so much better about our future DL depth across the board with this news.

And what's better than adding 3 corners? 2 4-star corners who are studs by all accounts.

We’ve now put back to back classes of defensive recruiting like that we haven’t seen under Kelly. Should really set this team up for sustainable success on that side of the ball.
