If those were true he'd have better offers besides Ball State. Just saying. Word on the street is Deiter even ate him alive.
Not a cover corner. I totally agree with, in concept, why you say that it's an "interesting" (to be polite) offer with how the class is shaping up. Unlike CJ Prosise who has the ball skills to play CB/S/WR and has been a huge playmaker at 7on7 events and in HS; Turner is certainly an odd fit and a project.
To address you and Whiskey and the DOLB debate... I think there is a very, very real possibility that either Turner or Shumate or both grows into that position. I know Baratti, on paper, also seems like he has the frame to be a great fit... but my hunch says he ends up being a stud at safety and the next Zbikowski. He just moves like a lighter Zibby on film I've watched and think his future is in the secondary. But I understand where you guys are coming from and could for sure be very wrong here.

As an aside... I was talking with some people over dinner who said "thank God Perkins didn't have the grades and Decker decommitted" And while I don't necessarily agree with them, it's interesting to consider where we stand. Ekanem is a better prospect than Perkins (on so many levels... including his personality... I say this not knowing Perkins and only seeing reports, but having info from my old HS sports district on Ekanem) and more importantly f the Armsteads commit with Ekanem we have ~1-2 spots left open for a CB and maybe one other player.
That means if Decker had stayed on board we'd either be turning away Ekanem, a CB or the Armsteads for a very high upside project player on the OL where we are already fine thanks to the Prestwood transfer. That's crazy to think about... and gives credence to the strong buzz that once Decker flipped our staff said "OK, have fun in Columbus" and there his spot was 100% gone no matter how much his parents might've thought the flip to OSU was a mistake.
