So my grandpa isn't doing well lately. He has a big family, so he instructed my mom and her siblings to go through his house and try to get everything together. It isn't a matter of figuring out who gets what when the time comes... it's a matter of figuring out what has value, so they can sell things and pay off my grandma's medical debt from when she passed.
He was a car salesman at the same dealership for 45+ years, and was REALLY good at his job. In addition to his pay, he got 'points' to spend in GM gift catalogs, and would buy two of every item he got. One was for his kids to open and use, and the other was to keep boxed up, unopened.
My mom unearthed brand new, factory-sealed Atari 2600, NES, and SNES. It's like finding the Holy Grail!
My grandpa's oldest son is the OG video game nerd in the family (he taught me how to play doom on his PC back in the mid-90's), so he'll probably call dibs on those if they decide not to sell them... but I went ahead and planted a bug in my mom's ear that I'd like to have any of them that he's willing to part with lol.
