I'm not as low on the new PJ album as you. Personally, I think it's their best since Riot Act. It's very different, but there are still some rockers on there and still some slower ones that are good (Comes then goes). I'll give it some more listens in the upcoming weeks, perhaps my mind will change.

I was also supposed to go to PJ in April (Nashville, 4/2). Would love to make it to Ohana, but can't afford it this year thanks to Carona.

Good. At least unique. Dance of the Clairvoyants is unique too and fun with headphones. Gives us a lot at what PJ would have been if they had lured David Bryne away the The Talking Heads instead of hiring Eddie.

There's one other song that I liked, that would have been a filler #10 song on post-Yield albums but that's it for me.

You mention Riot Act, there's no I Am Mine, Love Boat Capt or McCready gold like 1/2 Full. Plus Comes Then Goes sounds more like Eddie's Into the Wild.

The library is still more than you can catch in a show so I'm good. Favorite band to see live, will be as long as I am too.

I agree with you on Dance of the Clairvoyants. You can tell it sounds like they wrote the song right after listening to the Talking Heads on repeat.

Those three songs on Riot Act put it well above Gigaton for me. I think, song for song, it's better than Lightning Bolt and Backspacer. However, give me Unthought Known and Lightning Bolt (the song, not entire album) over any song on Gigaton right now.

Comes Then Goes and Retrograde feel like Vedder wrote them the same time he was doing Into The Wild, but weren't good enough for the album. So he put the rest of the band on Retrograde but kept Comes Then Goes with just him and his guitar (I think this song is 100% about Cornell, but that's a different discussion).

Love the Pearl Jam talk, perhaps we'll run into each other at a show.

After listening to Gigaton about 20 times I walk away unimpressed. As a huge fan with over 100 shows under my belt, I wouldn't be upset if they didn't play a single song from this album the next time I see them.

At this point, I wouldn't care if they played any of them at their concerts. I only have five shows to go by, but first year of the backspace tour was a bit rough (caught Getaway's first play at a concert, didn't sound great).

Were you impressed with either Backspacer or Lightning Bolt when they first came out?

Learned to play Feathered Indians by Tyler Childers on the guitar. Cool song to sing and play along to.

Love this kid. His Purgatory album has probably snuck into my Top 10 all time list. I don't know why I have such a connection with him over Stapleton or Simpson but I do. My old man would've loved all 3 of em.

I've been known to do this one on the local bourbon circuit.

He is pretty great. For me him and Simpson are on the same level. Kind of like Waylon and Merle Haggard were way back when. Stapleton is good but just a little to slick.

50 years since the 27 club really took off, Wilson, Hendrix and Joplin anniversaries coming up soon. Gonna be rocking their music through the summer.

I've been on a huge Baroness kick lately. Few probably know them I assume. They are a sludgy, progy metal band. Fantastically arranged songs, John has a really great growl (don't think scream), and they are awesome live.

I love Chlorine & Wine. YouTube does a great job pushing them on me regardless of where I start from it seems. I'd like to see them live. They've been around long enough that there might be some blue hairs in the house.

He’s touring w/ Sturgill which seems too good to be true...and alas...enter COVID-19

“Nose to the Grindstone” perfectly describes his roots in a coal mining town that drifts into opiate addiction. Don’t know if it’s still the case but his back up band was referred to as “The Food Stamps”
