ACamp, if you like Stapleton you should indulge in the aforementioned in posts above. Also, I would recommend the following:

Whitey Morgan
Whiskey Meyers
Band of Heathens
Hayes Carll
Blackberry Smoke
Colter Wall
Drivin’ N Cryin’

There’s a nigh/day difference between pop-country and alt-country (or outlaw country if you prefer)

Colter Wall has some incredible stuff. Haunting voice. Blackberry Smoke are pure awesome.

Also, stumbled onto the guys below a while back. Folk/Bluegrass with a mix of cool. Crazy good. Dubbed the Mumford and Sons "evil twins"..

Blackberry Smoke does an excellent cover of Tom Petty’s “You Got Lucky” w/ Amanda Shires on violin.

Hayes Carll does a great cover of The Old ‘97s’ “Let’s Get Drunk & Get it On”

Like it, but a little slow for me. The original is one of my favorite songs, so I'm probably a little hard to please on that one.

When ya'll get finished with Stapleton & Simpson, graduate to some Tyler Childers. Hard to believe they all are from within 30 miles of each other in Coal Country, Kentucky.

Tyler Childers is pretty good. I’m just surprised A Camp didn’t know who Chris Stapleton was. Dude has been cranking out hits for other people for awhile now. If he wants to cut right to the chase he should download Waylon Jennings - Rambling Man.

If anybody is looking to go down a crazy Apalachian music rabbit hole goggle Mini Thin.

Mini Thin is a bit different vibe lol... they're decent, but there's better redneck wrap out there.

I have been perplexed by the techno, computerized way of music in the past 10-20 years.
This one right here boys....<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8jj7NyrneWU" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

By the way, He (Gary Clark Jr.) brought Eric Clapton out of retirement because he could. Austin boys.

Going to see Whitey Morgan & the 78s this Friday.

Great show. Dude has the perfect “outlaw country” voice. He’s a throwback to Merle, Waylon & David Allan Coe. He & his band look straight out of 1978 with their Don Williams-esque cowboy hats & beards. His covers of ZZ Top’s “Just Got Paid” & Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire” were great. His best cover is the old Townes Van Zant tune “Waitin’ Around to Die”. I’ll try to post a pic & vid

RIP

I doubt anyone here has ever heard of John Kilzer. He played basketball for Memphis St before teaching English there. He soon signed a record deal w/ Geffen and recorded 2 albums w/ minor hits like “Red Blue Jeans”, “Memory in the Making” & “Marilyn Dean & James Monroe”. He soon gave in to his demons and then left music to save his life. He found Christ and started a recovery ministry and started recording again. Died yesterday. Here’s one of his more recent songs that illustrates who he tried to reach.

Decided to dust off the old acoustic guitar. In the last few weeks I’ve learned to sing and play Shot Clock by Ella Mai (timing on this is hard to sing and play at same time), The Auld Triangle, Old Town Road by Little Nas X (I love this song) Rhinestone Cowboy, the Parting Glass and Guantanamera (still regret not being able to sit in with some locals at a bar in Panama when they went into this at 2 am one night). Had almost forgotten how fun it is to rock out.

Depends on the version I suppose. The cool thing about that song in particular is that it’s meant to have different lyrics incorporated into it by whomever is singing it. I think seeing a bunch of Central Americans spontaneously performing it at their local watering hole might change your mind.

I'd be fine with it, but tbh I didn't even care for Campay's rendition. Certainly seems like a good "party" song to learn.
