YJ, I admire your musical chops.

As I recall, perhaps incorrectly, that Prince was a late, and questioned, addition to the line-up, but damn, did he slay!

Carlos is a singular, stellar artist.

Winwood and Clapton are demigods in my mind.

ELO put out some good shit, but I don't put "Telephone Line" in my list of favorites.

The Traveling Wilburys was a most interesting collection of talent. They are, in my opinion, underrated and under appreciated.

Love your additions as well. I simply love all music. There's not a genre that I can't appreciate. I took the history of rock and roll at IU. Crazy to say it, but it was harder than most any advanced classes I had. Had a crazy hippie as a prof that dug all the tunes. The class spent more times on the roots of music than anything else.

You are correct about Prince. IIRC he was a VERY late add and tossed in. Saw his last concert ever here in ATL. He did two that night. One of my other pals saw concert 1, and my buddy and I saw concert 2. All of us felt something "in the air" that night so to speak. He and his piano......

There's a new doc about Clapton, Life in 12 Bars on Showtime. Watched 15 mins of it and had to pause/record for a time with proper cocktails to enjoy. This weekend! Winwood is soooooo under appreciated IMHO.

Always loved ELO. Lynne and whole band were the epitome of artists. That song, while not one of their musical masterpieces, is pretty haunting personally due to a cousin that departed many years ago.

The Wilburys,,, so may great artists. They were a reminder of what music could and should be while I was in college listening to "college" music. Not that I don't appreciate college music.

And a few more before I hit the pillow. Since you flashed me back a bit to my college days in southern IN.

Many years back I took a look at my music collection: LPs, CDs (often repeats of worn LPs) and my iTunes collection.

#1 was Van Morrison
#2 was The Beatles
#3 was Neil Young
#4 was The Grateful Dead

By sheer volume, Classical Music probably outnumbered them all, but there is such a wide array that no one composer broke into the top five.

This is one of the pieces I listened to in high school back in the '60s, while doing homework.

It made Algebra very interesting ...

I'm not old AF like wooly, I just really liked Neil Young and his proto-grunge at 15. The Who, Neil Young and the like. Really angsty angry stuff y'know

I wore out ELO back in my heyday. Still enjoy them and have them on my Amazon Music. Just finished my grunge binge and now going back to some of my roots, listening to Motown as well as Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Al Green, etc.

For those who are not aware Steve Winwood, was only like 15 when he was playing with the Spencer Davis Group. Very talented guy.

He also did session work for a couple of Hendrix's albums. The guy while being uber talented also has a great life story. It's been a long time, but I once dug into Winwood's discography. He (in various forms/groups) had a ton of great music that really never got US airplay but was rocking the UK charts. Some real jewels.

Galveston steakhouse in MC and the old Timothy’s in new buffalo. They do the blues circuit in summer did the popcorn festival one year

Every Wednesday night for shuffle board league. Back in my day, it was a bit on the rough side for most. Mill workers & bikers late night. By the late 90's a lot off the VU students went there.

The Gathering was the local pick up joint out past Semento's before you got to Hayes-Leonard, It's now a church. How odd.

Jackson's was the VU bar, which is now McDuffy's.

Northside was where all my friend's parents hung out. The VU crowd started hanging there in the mid 90's. I was there the night the Bulls won their first title in '91.

Galveston's is owned by friend's of mine from high school.

Yep, when it was in the old Gordon's Beach Inn. They had blues on Friday nights in the winter. Pine Top Perkins sat in a couple of times I was there.

Thanks for posting all this today. I didn't know Timothy moved out of the Gordon Inn. I actually worked at the Inn for a summer when they began a complete over haul of the property in '86. I looked up the new address and he's in the old Miller's Country House on Red Arrow now, which is where he started as a cook. Good for him.

Last time I was up there that building was a sports bar. We went there after taking in a 3lb slab of prime rib at Skip's.

Definitely stop in, it’s very nice and Tim is a great guy. The location is also really cool. It’s upscale, but they have a bar menu as well. They will also be doing pizza ovens outside and they have a killer rib night on Wednesday.

I could take a bath in a tub of their key lime cheesecake. Best restaurant around, imo.

Timothys was my touchstone during lent, great seafood. The best calamari i've ever had was there. Will need to try the new location
