I love the new helmets, but I haven't quite decided how I feel about losing the tradition of the student managers painting them each week. I guess I'll get over it though, because they look amazing compared to the old ones. I'm glad they kept the 23.9 karat gold flakes in the paint. It's little details such as these that make ND special. Hell, we've had something Oregon has never had all this time....now it's just better!

I bet the student managers will get over it. If they paint them every week that's over 1,000 per year. I'd guess that that the aura is lost after about number 20.

OK, maybe I am reading too much into this but at the 3:30 mark of the video (I'll post the link here again so noone has to go back to find it) Grooms says that the goal last year was to have the helmet match the pants. And they did that from the BC game on. Could it be that the pants Saturday will also match the new helmets? I think so.

Since Kelly said the jerseys were going to be "traditional" colors, that could include:

- Green
- "Marian" blue- like the Shirt
- A darker Navy, like the Holtz years

I think so. I don't think they went through 12 trials to finally 'get it right', only to keep experimenting and switching back to the old, less-gold color. These are for good and I dig it.
