Look at it this way... there are really only two possible outcomes at the end of the year...
#1 Charlie is fired... JC is definately gone, Golden is possibly gone and we loose some key recruits. Next year is a transition year and we actually have to wait many years before we are contending.
#2 Charlie stays... Golden definately stays, JC possibly stays and we keep a top 10 (as of now) and possibly top 5 recruiting class. Anything is possible next year as we have a NC wothy offense and hopefully a defense that is one year behind our offensive and allows us to be a contender next year.
Charlie will not be let go this year. There is simply too much to loose and too little to gain by letting him go. Knowing this and the fact that it is was unrealistic to expect a 6-6 team to go 12-0, just enjoy the games!!!
You are really starting to upset me with posts like this.
You're a great optimist but Charlie is eventually going to have to go, Charlie isn't bigger than the program like you may think. You'd be surprised how things change when the entire fanbase is revived and everyone can be proud of Notre Dame football again. There is a clear split between ND fans, and its getting more and more noticeable as we continue to bask in mediocrity while people like yourself defend Charlie and say give him a few more years and others say he needs to go for this programs sake.
If we gave Charlie a few more years, it wouldn't matter. If he cant coach up a National Championship contending team now, what makes you think he will do it if we give him 3-4 more years?
We are 3-16 vs teams with winning records since 2007.
