Nice! Been looking for it, but haven't found it yet. I love wheated bourbon, so I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it.
So I had three pours neat. Cleaned my palette and had three pours over a whiskey stone. I plan to have a few with water and over ice this weekend.
The neat pours were very good. Spicy to me up front with a not so smooth finish. Notes are strong up front ( some caramel, some oak, and I did get some honeysuckle in there as well). Vanilla and a coffee aroma hit the back of my throat after the finish and it hung around and intensified during each if the pours. Over all I would say this is very good neat especially for the price. It reminded me of the Pappy but the Pappy had more subtleties and oak flavor which I attribute to the age and the barrels.
Chilling it with the whiskey stone definitely rounded out the heat up front and brought out more of a butterscotch taste. Smoothed out the finish and the florals more pronounced though the coffee went away and vanilla came through strong. All in all I liked the neat better but this is very good as well.
I am a rye guy though so I don't rate this as high as I do Willets pot still or Blantons (single barrel). I do like this both ways better than Makers though and much better than Angels Envy.
Oh and I saw an article that said it was only in a few specific places with SC being on of them. I don't think. Where you are was one of them. I will ship you one if you would like.
