Homebrewed? There's a Starbucks near me that has a Clover machine. They only use the good beans on that guy.

I had Starbucks Papa New Guinee blend on a clover when I was visiting Portland this summer. They had like 4 different special coffees. I had never tried anything from a clover before and it was amazing!

I will be indulging with Malibu coconut rum and grapefruit juice today. Don't knock it until you try it.

Victory Hop Ranch while making some salsa (and burning myself while roasting the vegetables over some open flame).

Hop Ranch has lots of citrus (mainly grapefruit and lemon but a little tangerine as well) and floral hops notes but it suffers because the malt is pretty much non-existent. Kind of like drinking a session IPA at 9% or a really hoppy lager (body reminds be of a lager).

I will look for that. I grabbed the Hoppyum off the singles rack; I hadn't seen it before. It was pretty good; not as bitter as, say, Smuttynose Finest Kind IPA.

You are killing me smalls. Buy it. I have heard great things about it but it doesn't make it out to AZ (or California). It is a hoppy red. Yum, one of my favorite styles.

Finished off the 2011 Riserva. Was yummy. It'll be a while before I drink Jove's blood again.

Now I'm working on Duvel. I hadn't tried it before and it does not disappoint. Basically exactly what I want from a golden ale.

Tonight, Chateau D'Aydie Madiran Laplace 2013 (tannat grape). Crazy tannins. Without food it is not very good (yet). Scrubs the tastebuds. With food (steak, it really needs red meat) it really starts to come alive with some nice plum, black currants and earthy notes. Probably needs a few years (and it only costs $8 at Costco so seems weird to recommend aging a bottle that I spent $8 on). Overall for $8 it is worth it and probably a bargain at $12-15 and worth $20 (though I would probably pass on it at $20). Might buy a few more bottles and try to age 1 or 2.

Also Bell's Hopslam is suppose to finally arrive here sometime this week. I will say that I have generally been disappointed with it previously. It is a very good beer and maybe even great but at $20+ a six pack I am hoping for amazing and I think it falls short of that.

ETA: Having said that I will buy a 6 pack if I can. Call me a sucker.

I find nothing wrong with it, especially since you describe your purchases as well worth the money and Lord knows that your palate is certainly a bit more discerning than mine.

If I am just buying for myself then yes I buy at costco (though my Costco carries well over 100 and probably closer to 100 different bottles of wine). If the in-laws are visiting then I will expand it and shop at Total Wine which gives me access to thousands of different wines because I am not so much looking for good bargains but shopping for their tastes (goes for any guests). I find that since I don't drink a whole lot of wine (since my wife doesn't drink much anymore it is hard to rationalize spending a lot on a bottle of wine) that I can get a decent selection and great prices at Costco (also having 3 children puts a crimp on the alcohol budget). When I lived up in North Phoenix a few years ago I would shop at the Scottsdale Costco for wine, they had a crazy selection of a couple hundred different bottles of wine (and they even brought in first growth Bordeaux though I would never pay for those). Anyways I am rambling now, so yes I shop at Costco for probably 2/3 of my wine purchases, and feel free to judge me for it.

Finally able to get my hands on a bottle of Zombie dust after hearing about it from the guys on here for years. It is very good. I put it up toward the top of the list of IPAs that I've had. I do believe I'm going to have to make a pilgrimage to the brewery in the near future.

I was also given a bottle of gumball head, not sure what to expect, but I'll save that for tomorrow.

Bought a 6 pack of Bell's Hopslam today. I have to admit that I haven't loved it the few times that I have had it before, but I found it to be very good though overpriced. Will crack one open tonight to see if my opinion has changed. If so I might try to grab some more tomorrow.

Let me know what you think about it. I always struggle with recommending beers that I haven't had before.

Over the past 2 days I bought
4 pack of Founders Imperial Stout
Smuttynose Rock Road (Rocky Road is Smutty's first dessert stout. An indulgent blend of marshmallow Fluff™ and chocolately cacao nibs in a full bodied, sweet stout beer that has been aged on amaretto soaked oak chips. is the description). Could be good or really bad.
Stone Old Guardian Barleywine dry hopped with Pekko Hops

Bells Hopslam (2 cans over 2 days, one in an IPA glass and one in a tulip glass)
N: Honey, citrus (mostly orange), orange rind, some caramel malt, and some floral notes.
P: Honey, orange marmalade, orange rind, grapefruit rind, and a floral note (kind of like what I think a carnation would taste like based off of smell).
F: Honey has mostly faded but has a small presence, with a fair amount of orange and grapefruit rind. A hint of bitter caramel as well from the malt.

I think that Hopslam is a very good to great beer, but I think it falls short of the price/hype ($20 for a 6 pack). I would rate it 89-92, and while I enjoy it, I always feel slightly bad about spending $20 on it. Over the next week or so I will try it from a pint glass and straight from the can to further assess it.

Craft beer is slowly making it's way here.

Big couple days of beer news for South Dakota. Announced yesterday that Oskar Blues is going to start distributing in March and Bell's announced today that they are coming sometime in 2016.

Craft beer is slowly making it's way here.

That is good news for your tastebuds and bad news for your wallet.
