Is this your first Islay Scotch? Sometimes I get wet band-aids and iodine as well from Laphroaig.

I went to Total Wine today and they were clearing out the Arrogant Bastards Box for $13 (normally $20) because the enjoy by date is 1/13/16. The thing is that 3 of the bottles should be ok for aging, so I just need to drink the standard Arrogant Bastard before then. Also they changed up what comes in the box a little. This one came with the standard Arrogant Bastard, Oak Aged Arrogant Bastard (wood chips), Double Bastard and instead of Lukcy Bastard this one had Depth Charged Double Bastard (Double Bastard brewed with espresso roasted coffee beans). Overall not bad for $13.

Sadly I also bought a single of Founders Azacca IPA. I will try it tonight or tomorrow but I generally don't like Founders IPAs, so why the heck do I keep trying them?

So for the Cotes-du-Rhone, Caractere Cotes-du-Rhone 2013. Opened up very well over the night. Delicious. Fruit opened up with air. It paired well with some homemade beef stew.

Chianti Classico is 2013 Rocca delle Macie. Delicious slightly below midrange Chianti Classico. As every Italian wine, it needs food, but the cherry is there. Excellent for when I want to get myself a little nicer than an every day, but don't want to spend any more than 14.

Kind of a long answer time.

I have had Alpine before they were mass distributing and and after they were distributing.

Alpine Pure Hoppiness before mass distribution (only could buy bottles at brewery) it was a solid 93-95 beer. Definitely an A.

After mass distribution (so the 6 pack that you are buying at the store) it is an 89-92. A very good beer and well worth buying but a step down from the pre-massed produced version. Not shocking since they upped their production drastically after being bought by Green Flash.

It's really good. They are a smaller brewery in Elkhart, IN. They have lots of good beers, and although I'm not usually a stout fan, this is my favorite from them. They also can their own crowlers, which is cool.

It's on the border but I don't think so, unlike some others I've had. You can actually smell and taste all three flavors and I'm happy about that. I'll probably have one more of these and get back to you.

More Veronese rosso. You can really tell some grapes went through Appassimento. Still dark and fruity. Definitely raisins, a bit of blackberry too. Very open right away. Not at all bad.

Thanks for this. It isn't a cheap beer for an 89-92. I'll try one tomorrow but I can get Sculpin for much less, and I really like it.

Not a problem. Though I might have some ratings bias as I have had it from both places and it might just be me carrying some baggage into my rating.

Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Tropical IPA (just ok)
and now pouring a Stone Arrogant Bastard while watching my Vikings.

Pure Hoppiness. PKT is right on the money. It's good, but not $18 bills a sixer good. Not to my perhaps undereducated tastebuds, anyway.

2011 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco. I'm letting this puppy decant for a bit, but I couldn't resist pouring myself a small amount to have in the meanwhile. A bit of cherry and even more fruit. I'm surprised at how light in color the wine is. I've only had one Barbaresco before and I unfortunately didn't take any notes. It really is silky smooth already. It's too bad that I couldn't make myself a nice meal to pair with it, but tonight's Queen must defer to tomorrow's King.
