How does Bulleit Rye compare to the regular Bulleit? Better? Way different?
Very different. Regular Bulleit is a "high rye" bourbon-- roughly 68% corn, 28% rye, and 4% barley--like Four Roses (in fact, IIRC, Bulleit is made directly from Four Roses stock, so the mash bills are identical). Bulleit Rye isn't bourbon at all, but a rye whiskey, with a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% barley.
In my opinion, regular Bulleit is a good (not great) example of its style, while Bulleit Rye boasts the best QPR in rye whiskey. I always have it on hand for mixed drinks, and for guests who prefer a straight rye to bourbon.
