I tried Blue Point Toasted lager yesterday. It's a well-regarded beer made in Long Island, and it isn't too cheap. It was disappointing, not so much that it was bad, it was just very boring. I could certainly drink it, but there's nothing special about it. It doesn't taste much different than Yuengling, except for the fact that Yuengling is only half the price. Maybe Blue Point's other stuff is more rewarding.

No joke. Apparently Allagash and Victory used to distribute to Arizona, but both stopped for some reason.

Girlfriend signed me up for the beer of the month club this month's delivery just came in (have not tried yet).

You get 4 styles, three of each, 2 from 2 different breweries.

Brewery #1 is Santa Fe Brewing Co., Santa Fe, NM.

Beer #1 is Nut Brown, designed for "England's pubs".
Awards: 2012 Rockies/southwest Regional Champion
Beer #2 is Pale Ale. It says it is anything but your typical American Pale Ale and finishes with almost pilsner like maltiness with hop bite and german yeast.
Awards: 2011 Best of the Rockies, Southwest Region, US Beer Tasting Champion

Brewery # 2 is Lancaster Brewing Co. from Lancaster, PA.

Beer #1 is Kolsch, said to pay homage to the traditional beer of Cologne.
Awards: "they give awards for beer?"
Beer #2 is Strawberry Wheat, american wheat lager style.
Awards: no awards

Looking forward to the Kolsch and the Pale Ale personally but will always enjoy them all.

Rogue Brutal IPA. Man this bottle is very different from my last bottle of it.

This bottle is full of bitter herbal and dank earthy hops. Some pine as well. A little caramel and pale malt with some pine.

My last bottle was full of fruits (citrus, peaches and tropical) with some piney notes and malt.

This bottle is much closer to living up to it's name of Brutal IPA.

Not even the same zip code. The RuinTen is one of the most bitter beers that I have had (though absolutely wonderful), while this rather bitter though not as much (maybe a 7.5 on the bitter scale vs a 9 or 9.5 for the RuinTen). Plus the RuinTen has some really good citrus and malt to help provide other flavors.

I hope he wouldn't ruin Hendrick's with tonic. That stuff can stand on its own. Has anyone tried The Botanist gin? It's from Islay in Scotland. My boss picked up a few bottles for himself; I mentioned that I've never tried it so he left a bottle for me to sample (nice of him). Someone I work with said "It's from Islay, I wondered if they use peat in it?" I hope not, that would be a terrible idea.

Martin Miller's London Dry Gin. It is a nice gin (not as good as Hendrick's) but I am not sure that I will buy again.

I like Hendrick's in a G&T or on it's own to sip, but never in a martini (tried it twice, it is just too sweet). I like Plymouth for Martinis and it does ok in a G&T. Martin Miller's was pretty good at either but wasn't as good as Hendricks in G&T or on it's own, and it wasn't as good as Plymouth in Martinis. For cheap gins I would roll with Beefeater or Boodles.

They put out a huge variation of those Mad Hatter IPAs. Isn't there at least 5 or so of them? I believe that there is a white one (Belgian), a Rye, the oak aged, the Imperial, the regular and at least one more? I have a friend from Michigan that really likes them.

I didn't know about it until I saw it in the store but there is a huge variation of the Mad Hatter IPA's from NHBC (Belgian, Black, Farmhouse, Oak Aged, Rye and probably more).

PSU Hater...overall, this beer is just ok. It's drinkable but there isn't anything particularly special about it. The oak aging gives it a bit of a woody flavor but that is about it. Try it, if you get it at a good price.

Nolet's gin would have to the be the best I've had. The reserve is over $500, so haven't got a free sample yet.
