Hangar 24 Vinaceous. This is "Brewed in the style of an English Old Ale, this beer deviates from tradition with an ample addition of freshly crushed Mourvedre grapes from Temecula. Vinaceous pours a deep burgundy color and boasts flavors of rich malt, brown sugar, dark berries and a touch of oak in the finish" according to them.

The nose is very similar to their description with figs, plus, brown sugar and loads of grapes. The problem is I have no ****ing clue how to describe the palate. I feel like my tastebuds got the **** knocked out of them and they blacked out and when they woke up they can't remember anything.

Ok here is my attempt, it has some malt, some old grape juice, grape tylonel, some brown sugar, a little oak, some plums with lots of bitter oak. A touch of vanilla and menthol.

Just a crazy beer.

Time to kill a couple of bottles of Irish whiskey to celebrate. First up is Jameson Gold Reserve.

Straight from the bottle?

I think technically that is neat.

I have added an ice cube to some cheap bourbon during some crazy hot days but if it is a good whisky I drink it neat unless I am doing tasting notes and it is high abv then I might add a drop or two of water (I use a pipette) to open it up for nosing purposes.

In the market for a six pack tonight. Don't have any good beer markets so Publix will have to do... Any suggestions on good common beer that I might not have tried?

Don't have publix near me but if they have any of those Henry Weinhard's I think they are worth a shot.

I tried the Budweiser Black Crown amber last night and it was ok. Not the best amber I've had and def. not the worst.

Does New Belgium distribute to your state? Their Abbey Dubbel is one of my favorite value beers, and it's widely available in Arizona grocery stores.

Tried this for the first time the other night and really enjoyed it. Redwood Flats Amber.

New Belgium is a heckuva brewery in my opinion. Obviously, Fat Tire is a great beer, and Ranger is a pretty good IPA. Snow Day is a real good beer too (and appropriate given the weather in most of the country). I've heard good things about 1554, their Winter Ale and their Sunset Wheat too (not sure if those are available currently though).

Amen. Fat Tire is a great way to introduce newbies to craft beer. Virtually everyone likes it.

I'm a fan of their Trippel as well. It's no La Fin du Monde, but at $7/ sixer and nearly 8% ABV, it's one helluva value.

I've heard great things about their Lips of Faith series, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
