Had my last San Tan Moon Juice IPA in a can at Sauce tonight.

Definitely should have got the HopShock, though I have no idea if it's any better. Loooks like I'll wait till next summer to try San Tan again since pkt says KiloHop is AZ's finest and that's when it's available. Until then, if I'm forced to drink AZ beer I'll stick with Four Peaks HopKnot... which isn't even as good as the now ubiquitous Lagunitas.

I really like Dragoon IPA much better than HopKnot. You should be able to find 4 packs of 16oz cans of it. To me Dragoon IPA is the best year around IPA brewed in AZ (Mother Road Tower Station would be a distant 2nd).

Also I believe that KiloHop is still on tap at the Brewery itself you might want to call and check.

That's a looooooong way from me Casa Blanca.

I've had an eye out for Dragoon. I'm sure I'll bump into it sooner or later. Four Peaks is everywhere but so is Lagunitas so that gets me through.

Missing BWW in OC something fierce though the BWW at Talking Stick had FW DBA and Union Jack on tap. It's a start. lol

Huh. I just found out I live 10 minutes from a Total Wine. For the sake of my health (fiscal and physical), I should not have learned this.

haha, it's really a good thing that the nearest total wine and bev mo (right across the street from each other) are about a 35 minute drive from me... saves me so much money and it a benefit to my health.

I was a little disappointed in the beer selection, but I got the Heavy Machinery Half IPA, and the Bloodwork IPA. I'm looking forward to enjoying these.

Russell's reserve 10yr.

Had the SN barrel aged narwhal 2014 earlier today. I have nothing to compare it to like zelezo. It was my first time having this from SN, but it was very good.

Did you see the Velvet Merkin Oatmeal Stout? It's supposed to drop this month. Definitely going to try that.

The bar where the ND Club of OC meets has all the FW beers on tap and gets 22's of the Reserves when they are out. I've had the RIS, Parabola = Excellent ....... Their Barley Wine, Scuba-something = Very Good and the the Helldorado which is very different for a Barley Wine. Like the Amstel Light of Barley Wines. It's very good.

They also have a release that comes out for the holidays that is a combo of all of them. That sounds interesting, though I can see it being awful too. I remember the BWW Mgr telling me about it. Hopefully Costco gets a Reserve gift box from them like they did with Deschutes and Hangar 24

Tangerine Green Flash Southern Soul Style IPA...

long name, could have just gone with Tangerine IPA.

It's good, not world beating but I would get it again when in the mood for a heavy fruit flavored, mildly hoppy beer.

No Velvet Merkin yet, it takes a few weeks to meander on over here. I have had Parabola and Sucaba previously and really enjoyed them (as you point out Parabola is wonderful). I have bottles of Parabola, Helldorado (another one not the one for tomorrow night) and Stickee Monkee (barrel aged quad) waiting for my father in law to visit for Christmas.

I don't know where in Scottsdale you are at but one of the best craft beer places in the Phoenix area is. https://m.facebook.com/gcm.liquor.3/ Gilbert might be a little bit of a haul bit their selection is usually great. They even had some Belching Beaver for a while (not the best brewery but I have never seen it anywhere else in AZ).

I would like to hear your thoughts on Velvet Merkin once you try it.

If anyone sees Stone's Xocoveza in their local supply shops, please post? I discovered this in January, after it had come and mostly gone, so I got only a little of it, but really liked it. I understand it's due out in October, but not sure. Anyway, I'd appreciate any spotting notices.

1st anniversary party at Austin Brothers Brewing Company. Had the Slamnesia Triple IPA, Peanut Butter Milk Route Stout on nitro, and Oktoberfest. Heading home for a nap before the game.

6 ice cold Coors Lights. 99 degrees, not a cloud in the sky and mowing the lawn. Until Perrier puts alcohol in their water, this will have to do!

Firestone Helldorado 2016.

Loads of honey, malt, vanilla and bourbon. A little coconut as well with some faint slightly sweet hops (melon and peach).

Here's a site I had saved when I was getting ideas about KY Mules.

How To Make the Perfect Summer Cocktail: the Kentucky Mule

A couple of things I've found with making a good mule... or my chick has found I should say. She used to tend at Churchill Downs so she knows her chit.

1. Use Cock & Bull, Bundaberg or Fever Tree Ginger Beer. Cock & Bull is the best and they invented the drink so it doesn't get any more original. The other two are found coast to coast a bit more. My back east friends always say they can't find Cock & Bull (it's out of LA). She prefers their recipe that is on the side of the bottle except for the lime peel suggestion which is next.

2. Peel your 1/2 lime and press the bitter onto your mug, then flip it over and mix your drink on top of it. There's a lot going on in a Mule and the bitter, is as important as the sweet and spicy that the ginger beer provides and the tart the lime juice adds.

3. Watch out for recipes that call for simple syrup. Ginger beer is sweet enough. Depending on what you use, you may or may not need it. Definitely don't need it with Vodka. Cock & Bull's recipe doesn't call for it at all.

Have fun!

Thanks man. I haven't seen those ginger beers here. I will see if I can't find them. I think that is one of the things wrong. Of course I grew up drinking Bleinheim ginger ale so anything not as spicy as that is just Soda

Cock & Bull makes me sneeze everytime. It will also make your lips and gums at minimum sting/tingle to straight up burn. My girl swears by it but she cannot drink them straight. I love them but feel guilty drinking $1.25 bottles of pop like I'm a big shooter.

I bet you can find Bundaberg at a Bevmo or Total Wine. It has a great flavor but not as spicy or as carbonated as Cock & Bull. The fizz is important to me too.

Yep. The fizz is missing. I tried with Reeds Jamaican ginger beer and it was very weak. I do have a Total Wine and a Bottles. I may try to hit those up and see what they have.

As a side not I made another Sazerac with the Whistlepig. Omg I love Whistlepig.

I wish I liked whiskey besides the occasional Jack / Mexican Coke / lime pool drink. Yes, I'm SW ghetto like that.

I'm also fond of Old Fashioned's. My girl makes those and adds extra foo foo for me, blood oranges and a thimble of Marischino syrup. It's basically a Kentucky Amaretto when she gets done.

Reed's... I almost wrote, "Don't ever buy Reeds" It is what good ginger beer tastes like the next day after a night open on the kitchen counter. It's easy to find but flat as a Romanian gymnast.
