So it seems the general consensus is I should quit life or get married in the spring...

In all seriousness, I was the guy bitching at people for fall weddings. Louder than anyone. Problem with spring or summer is the bar exam. That leaves August, and everything is booked. Plus fall in the Midwest is tough to beat.

Another option that popped up today is the Sunday of Labor Day. After really playing through my mind the misery of missing the game, that weekend sounds more appealing. Although Rhode Irish paints a pretty cool scene and the wedding would probably be unforgettable.

I think I'm going to call Swarbrick and tell him to make it a 3:30 game if you guys don't mind.

You're not planning on having sex that night, are you?

You're not planning on having sex that night, are you?

If UM wins you'll get gloating, condescending sex on her part with a lot of groveling and begging on your part. (A lot like your 10th anniversary)

If ND wins you won't be scoring on her field. She'll be wearing a red jersey to bed. You'll have sex with Mary Hand. "Not tonight honey, Brady isn't in the mood!" She's gonna nickname that thing, "Brady" to spite you. She'll call The Girls, "Bo" and "Fritz".

Go for the other date!

Another important aspect of this partnership: your kids. My soon to be wife is a Colts, Purdue and Cubs fan, so I told her our girls can follow her teams and the boys will follow ND, the Bears, and White Sox.

IrishSteelhead, you should have gone with a better compromise. Allow your children to all pick which teams they root for. After enough losses from Purdue and the Cubs, your children will bound to be ND and White Sox fans. Can't help ya with the Bears though, you never know whats going to happen with them.

Think of years later dude. What if she wants to go on a Anniversary trip. And every so often it will fall on a Saturday. Even if its say your seventh, she will want to go out for dinner or something stupid like that. \\

what if all of your kids will have fall birthdays?

3 kids Birthday parties and an anniversary?

Congrats on watching 6 games a year for the rest of your life.

The funny thing is she watches scUM almost as religiously as I watch ND. She knows the game times of both, when the two game times conflict, etc. I'm sure we will incorporate watching college football into our anniversary somehow.

The bye weekend looks like the clear favorite. I still hate that it's in the fall and on a Saturday. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Do it labor day weekend or after the season is over before the bowls start.

Can't go wrong here, in my view. I've been to a wedding of an ND couple on a game day ... reception DURING the game. I and every guest complained about it for weeks leading up to the day, but it was actually an awesome atmosphere and we had a great time. I wouldn't say people were distracted; they sort of bonded with each other about not being able to watch the game. It gave everyone something to talk about. And then the DJ gave updates, and the whole dance floor cheered/jeered. I liked it.

But I also think a mid-October wedding could be cool. Yeah, you risk cold weather, but as long as you have an inside wedding and inside reception, it doesn't really matter. I attended an April wedding at ND at which the weather was TERRIBLE -- 50ish and rainy -- but everyone still had an awesome time.

I guess that's not that helpful ... but I really think either option will be fine.

Nothing wrong with game day. It's our last scheduled game. That means a yearly reminder of us kicking their *** in the last game played between us.
