Also, as for going to a new forum software, we are currently running vbulletin 3.7.4
Version 5.6.4 is out now. Which potentially could add some of the newer features that we would be looking for?

I would also contribute some funds to getting this site right. Been here for 10 years now... not gonna start again somewhere else.
Thanks for everyone that has reached out. We'll be talking with the owners about options, and I'll give you a status update when we have it.
It's pretty awesome to see how many people are willing to contribute. We're not just looking at ways to fix the short term operability problems, but also ways to modernize the site. If we have any tangible news on those fronts, we will start soliciting feedback from everyone on what they'd like to see.

Time for the IE makeover!
One other handy function that the newer boards have is they can keep track of what the last response you read in a thread was. Then if people add to the thread later and you click on it, it will take you to that last response you read so you're not re-reading through past stuff. Efficiency!
My laptop keeps telling me its an unsafe website then I have to click connect anyway-whats up

Don't we already have this with the "View Unread Posts" or whatever it's called? Or does it automatically put you at the last response you read (even if you didn't read all of them)?

Newer board software will take you to the last post you read, even if it's halfway down the page. As an example, if you've read a thread and the last post you saw was Post # 175 on Page 3, and people respond to it while you're gone (Say...responses going up to Post #189), the next time you come back to that thread and click on it the site's software will remember and take you to Page 3 automatically and scroll down to Post #175 so you're not rereading old posts. Saves time, you don't have to figure out where you last left off.
I predict lots of old men yelling at clouds. To much fancy hi tech mumbo jumbo for this board!

That function hasn't worked properly for me for months.
It's all pretty seamless. It's the same board, but with some extra whistles and gizmos that make things easier. Some of it is real simple, like integrating the @ symbol so you can @GATTACA and it'll ping you when someone is talking about you in a thread. Much like Discord, it'll even give you a drop down list of possible usernames after the @ as you type a few letters.
It's like upgrading from a CRT TV to a Smart LCD TV.
