I think game script will be very important. Maybe put differently, I think this game will be largely won or lost by UW in the first half.
Yeah only hope Washington has is making this a race to 50 and I have a hard time thinking they can get control of the tempo with how Michigan will play bully ball on offense.FWIW.
-- 3rd down % (defense): Bama 23rd, UW outside top 50
-- 1st downs (defense): Bama 30th, UW outside top 50
-- Passing yards allowed: Bama 24th, UW outside top 50
-- Rush yards allowed: Bama 31st, Washington 41st
-- Total defense: Bama 18th, Washington outside top 50
-- 3rd downs (offense): UW 14th, Bama 24th
-- 1st downs (offense): UW 8th, Bama 43rd
-- Passing: UW 1st, Bama outside top 50
-- Rushing: UW outside top 50, Bama 46th

I haven't watched UW a single time this year including last night. But their QB who everyone loves has looked like crap everytime I saw him last year and back at IU.Yeah only hope Washington has is making this a race to 50 and I have a hard time thinking they can get control of the tempo with how Michigan will play bully ball on offense.
Thanks for your one year outdated observation.I haven't watched UW a single time this year including last night. But their QB who everyone loves has looked like crap everytime I saw him last year and back at IU.
Obviously he's gotten better? But I have no first-hand confidence in him.
I really don't understand this kind of reply and you do it often. Thanks for your one year outdated observation.
Could you imagine being throttled in your load/post speeds and taking the time to reply with the above?!?
Yeah, it's really hard to evaluate on paper how important it is to have an older, more mature team.I mean Washington has taken out Oregon twice and now Texas.
Just seems like the team that took advantage the most of covid 6th years.
This is a good point, but it's mostly eyeballing Washington vs Michigan in the trenches more than anything. UW was 94th in total defense and Michigan was first, but as you point out, week to week Washington was facing far better QBs and offenses than Michigan was in the Big Ten.The pac 12 is better top to bottom then the big ten and Texas is better than Alabama I don't get why people think Michigan is going to roll uw
Funny enough, I respect and like John. His brother is the one I hate. This family winning a National Championship is bad enough, but they could get a Super Bowl too. Gross.
I'm sort of in the same boat, but I really don't like Jack and Jim.Funny enough, I respect and like John. His brother is the one I hate.
This is where I hope the numbers lack context b/c after seeing what Ole Miss did to PSU’s top ranked D, it was clear that they didn’t play any truly dangerous offenses that could hurt them through both the air & the ground. This is a good point, but it's mostly eyeballing Washington vs Michigan in the trenches more than anything. Prior to last night, I wasn't sure Texas would beat Alabama in a rematch, but AFTER last night I'm thinking they do based on how they both performed.
I do think Washington may need to play some keep away and keep the Michigan offense off of the field a bit.
Fair point, but PSU was without both Dixon, King and Robinson because they declared for the Draft. This is where I hope the numbers lack context b/c after seeing what Ole Miss did to PSU’s top ranked D, it was clear that they didn’t play any truly dangerous offenses that could hurt them through both the air & the ground.
This is something that Michigan is going in to foreign territory. In the CFP, the winner has had either a dominant talent advantage or QB advantage, sometimes both.
2015 - Cardale Jones vs Mariota
2016 - Coker vs Watson
2017 - Watson vs Hurts
2018 - Tua vs Fromm
2019 - Lawerence vs Tua
2020 - Burrow vs Lawerence
2021 - Jones vs Fields
2022 - Bennett vs Young
2023 - LOL
2024 - Penix vs Wierdo
Personally, I don't see this Michigan team having the generational talent the UGA or some of the Bama teams had. Could be wrong, but doubt there are half dozen top 40 picks coming from UM in the 2024 draft.
So this goes to QB. Penix has had to be the guy many times in his career and just did it versus Texas. McFuckface has not matched him at all. In these games, I will roll with the QB as that is where these games are won and lost. And I can't wait for McFuckface watching another celebration from afar.
Easy question. Iowa. This is something that Michigan is going in to foreign territory.
Who was the best QB they played all year? Best offense? Probably Alabama or Ohio State, and both have looked really average and both have QBs who leave a lot to be desired. Milroe is a good runner, but his passing is mediocre. McCord was mediocrity defined.
Penix is arguably the best QB in the country this year, and Washington has dudes on offense.
Michigan has had the personnel to wine the low scoring defensive war, but that isn't gonna work against UW. They can and will score. Michigan will have to match them, and I don't think that's gonna happen.
Husky OL is legitThis is a good point, but it's mostly eyeballing Washington vs Michigan in the trenches more than anything. UW was 94th in total defense and Michigan was first, but as you point out, week to week Washington was facing far better QBs and offenses than Michigan was in the Big Ten.

and that would require that they change their offense which is never a good idea. they are a quick strike, downfield passing team and playing possession would be totally out of character.I do think Washington may need to play some keep away and keep the Michigan offense off of the field a bit.
Washington can score on anyone. I think they can easily get to 24 points or so.
The problem is that their weakness on defense — a soft front seven that doesn’t defend the run well — is exactly what Michigan wants to face to be in their comfort zone. Every time they have played a team like that they have shredded them. Every time they have played a team with a physical front seven they have somewhat struggled.
I think Washington will need 35+ to win just seems unrealistic.
Eh, I wasn’t exactly impressed with scUM’s performance against Bama. It took Tommy Rees and overtime for them to win.The Husky D is quite bad...their OL did not impress me last night and they cannot run the ball. Penix and those receivers are legit. Their only hope to avoid a bloodbath is for them to just go off.
scUM is better than Texas and UW needed Penix to go for 400+ and be nearly perfect and still barely won.
Did you watch the game?Yeah unfortunately all the stars aligned for Michigan to win it all this year. They played a terrible schedule and the worst Ohio St and Bama team in a decade. Michigan has done a great job building a team that can bully the cupcakes. I think Georgia beats them head to head, but injuries derailed them. I feel even Notre Dame would be neck to neck with Michigan. Michigan is well coached, experienced, tough, and don’t make mistakes. They lose by at least 15 to a Georgia, Clemson, Bama, or Urbam Meyer Ohio St team from the last 10 years.
I’m just upset Notre Dame didn’t take advantage this year.
