Vegas Recomendations

The Wife and I are looking to take a trip to Vegas in March of next year. We're planing on going during the first weekend of the NCAA tournament (the only other time I went to Vegas was during this time, and it was a riot). There are some other couples going as well.

I've been tasked with picking the Hotel and some activities for the group (more specifically, the ladies, as the guys plan on watching games and drinking as much as possible).

Anyone have a recommendations on where to stay? We're looking for somewhere with a Sports Book on site, reasonably priced, and near everything. Any advice for shows that the wives may enjoy? Anything else?

As a point of reference, last time I stayed at Treasure Island and loved it (sports book, sports bar with cheap drinks during the games, decent food, fun gambling). If all else fails, I'd probably just plan on us going back there.

Any tips would be appreciated!

Tourney time in Vegas is awesome! We stay at Planet Hollywood. They have a great Sports Book area/bar and the pool is great there too. Prices are reasonable and The Strip House restaurant is phenomenal.

When I was 6, my family stayed at the MGM Grand in Vegas. Turned out that the "Keno scene" from Vegas Vacation was being shot while we were staying. So, yes, I saw Chevy Chase.

Honestly, look for good rates on the Strip. It's near all the action and you'll want to check out the other hotels and casinos. That's part of the experience. I don't think any of them are "bad."

Who takes their six year old to Vegas?! haha

MGM is a great place though. I've enjoyed it's sports book bar a few times.

You can't write "/thread" and then post immediately.

Don't you know anything?

Did you try to bang Rusty's sister?

Planet Hollywood is a great choice... Sports book is solid ( You can always walk to other ones too if you want to change it up) but for the ladies their is a mall next door and across the strip and a great pool....plus it puts u in center of strip if you want to walk and do other things at night

I suggest periodically checking Vegas.com; I used that to find the best rates at decent places when I was commuting to Vegas weekly. There isn't going to be many cheap places during March Madness as that is a crazy week here. Look at Monte Carlo, as it is a great central location at a medium price. Planet Hollywood good too; I liked Luxor, but it might get expensive that week.

If you have the money, the Venetian is gorgeous and also has a fantastic sports book. If you have more of a budget to consider, most of the places on the strip are going to be great. They know how to treat people because they want to take your money. I have stayed at Treasure Island, Luxor, Pink Flamingo (is that one even around any more?), and a couple more I can't remember but don't remember ever having a bad place on or near the strip.

Imperial Palace is right in the middle of everything, older hotel... not high end but not a dive either... and it's super cheap for that area of the strip... it's literally central to just about everything in regards to 'new town'

The Mirage is a great place if you want nice with a good sports book...

That's the other one I stayed at. Not too bad for cheap. Actually that one was free that time, thanks to a friend with New York "sportswriter connections".

According to rumors in the MSU Offer thread, you're a turd sandwich. I'm starting to believe it.

Aubrey? Hell no she's a skank. Cousin Eddie's wife, Catherine, is a dime though.

We stayed at Planet Hollywood a few years back and really enjoyed it. I've also stayed at the Luxor and that was nice, but it was ten years ago so I'm not sure anymore. If you're looking for shows, KA is really cool. Blue Man Group is always good too.

I have a meeting in Vegas once a year. We always stay at the Cosmo...place is nuts but I really don't have anything to compare it to because I never make it out of that hotel.

It's a basic hotel room wise, nothing special, but good enough... comfortable.. older casino, but if your goal is to be in the heart of it all and do it for cheap there's rarely a better option.

Now, if you want to be AWAY from the strip and still get everything in house... I recommend Southpoint. It's very much off on its own though, but you avoid all the madness and traffic and still get "vegas"

A client of mine that has been to Vegas over a hundred times, told me that Fremont Street (old Vegas) is a can't miss experience. Said that Fremont at night is a better time than the strip. More of a Bourbon Street vibe than a Strip Vibe, just with Vegas flair. Can anyone confirm?

Never been to Nawlins but I've done Vegas maybe a 100 times as I live just a couple hours out... Old Town is much better than it used to be (Now with the roof covering a portion and the light shows and such) but it's really just a smaller version of 'new town' with less to do imo...

I did grow up staying with my parents at The Californian almost exclusively as a child though and it is very different and more flashy now, that's for sure.

I lived in Vegas for three years. Fremont street is a must and it's not pricey. Imperial palace is a hotel. Not a casino, just a hotel but it is in the middle of everything. Cosmos is the new gem of the strip, every major casino has a sports book. I recommend getting there early as they usually fill up quickly and try to get a couch not some worn out chairs. Red rock is a newer casino off the strip in the nice part of town. About 15 minutes off the strip, station casinos are owned by niccos family. MGM and the other major casinos are pretty much all the same. Depends on what extras you may be looking for. Hope it helps

IP does have a casino on the ground floor though does it not, I would swear I've gambled there many a time?? In fact looking it up online it has one but isn't even called the IP anymore, I guess it was rebranded as "The Quad"

Here is a question for the board, has anyone ever stayed at the Bellagio?? What are/were your thoughts? I'd be interested to hear...

Also, on the point of Old Town, if you have kids, or like to swim... the pool at the Golden Nugget is pretty freakin cool... it almost inspired me to get into a public pool,.. almost (I'm one of those guys)... seriously though, my girls LOVE staying there bc of the pool. The slide goes through a shark tank that sits in the middle of the pool... very cool optics.

I would recommend Mandalay Bay or one of the hotels at City Center.

Remember that the meet-up after robbing the vault is at the Bellagio fountain.

Now that you slackers have given him hotel recommendations, let's get serious.

Get rooms for the ladies at one hotel and rooms for you guys at another. Line up some Gigolo's for the ladies to keep them busy all day and all night. Then you do what a man's gotta do. :awesomewo
