Sux, I wish we would put them on hiatus for a while... We can schedule Idaho foe now in their place.....

Shucks. I was just going to lobby that it be declared a Shamrock Series game and play it in the park across the street from me here in Minneapolis.

Hell, back in the (before my) day they held national speed skating events there with 50,000 attending one event in 1934.

I'd stage a tailgate. No driving, no cabs. Just a bit of weaving to and from the game.

Yeah, we stopped Michigan already, so why not get rid of our greatest rivals, too?

Personally I think that ND needs to come out AGAINST this inane law.

Calm down there sonny. This ain't the political thread. This is where we chicken little ourselves for a moment.

This was a good one, I usually dont get caught on April Fool's. But with Haden being so outspoken, I thought this was for real.

I really wouldn't care if we stopped playing them.

I'd trade the USC rivalry for one with UGA or UTenn. Actually I'd trade USC or Stanford for either one.

Do this many people really not see ND-USC as not a big deal?

I absolutely love playing and beating the Trojans.

Greatest. Intersectional. Rivalry.

People want to throw that away (Based on comments here, not the April Fools article)? I understand that Michigan didn't really bring anything to the schedule the last 5 years or so, and a regional game isn't necessarily great for recruiting, but drop USC? We've got to have one game or the other, and I'd rather have this one (As long as we're not in the middle of another 10 year losing streak).

I saw someone else say that we should dump Stanford and pick up UCLA as a replacement. That would keep us in the LA area every year. I agree that would be a huge recruiting tool. And we could hate on Mora even mora.

I don't know about swapping Stanford for UCLA. We already play one team from LA each year that's tough in USC (Given that sanctions are over and Kiffin is gone). UCLA has gotten a lot better in recent years under Mora's <S>cheating</S> coaching. Stanford is likely on the way down given their finish last year and the fact that Harbaugh's effect has all but faded. I'd rather wait and see if those trends continue before dropping Stanford, some of the upcoming schedules could be brutal otherwise.

Thank you for your support. As the author of that idea, I appreciate it.

I said that only because of recruiting. Yearly exposure in a very Catholic SoCal would go much further for recruiting than playing in the bay area. The bay area has one mega team, De La Salle and that's really it. The other top 19 programs are in the LA/IE/OC area. (excluding Folsom last year for those of you that know the state and national rankings)

Stanford is more about the rivalry of equals. In recent history it has been a good rivalry but if you take all games into account over the programs history it's a ways down the list, not even top 10 as far as games played (I think, if they are top 10 it's 9th or 10th)

Too be honest, I'd rather play San Diego St in Anaheim every year than Stanford home and away but a UCLA series in place of Stanford would be great for recruiting.

"lol, you guys play Navy, Army, Air Force, the Coast Guard, the Reserves, and St. Mary's All Girl Squad each year, we'll gladly trade our impressive B1G gauntlet!"

You guys are talking crazy. USC is our biggest rival and it's been that way since Rockne. It would be a travesty to lose that game.

I'm in favor of keeping only one Cali school, in order to create an SEC rivalry (UT or UGA). I'd prefer we keep USC. That said, the rivalry of years ago has faded a bit. More in the national public's eyes, than in most 30+ year old Irish fans.

Holistically I'd like us have an ongoing rivalry in both the PAC10 and the SEC. I could care less about the Big 10. Ultimately I'd love to have a game against a TX, CA, GA, and FL team every year for recruiting purposes. Sure the ACC gets us into the South, but to SEC kids, the ACC doesn't mean all that much.

The ND-USC game is a huge game and I'd hate for the series to go on hiatus or end. When the game is at ND it is a huge draw for recruits. When both teams are ranked high it is a big college football game. Lastly when we kick their ass it is such a good feeling.

We will almost certainly trade win loss records too... ;)

I'd feel better kicking UGA or Bama ass than USC. Sure it feels good, but beating a top SEC team would be glorious.

I could get used to kicking Tennessee's ass.
UT is on the upswing. Dark horse to win the East this year. They will win the East in the next three years. Book it. On that note, I think we would stand a better chance beating UGA over the next 10 years. I was at the UGA/UT game last year in Athens. UT took them to the wire. Only time before UT overcomes the Lame Kitten and Dooley years. UGA always lays a turd or two each year. Richt is a great guy, but not sure he gets the best out of the stockpile of talent he has every year.

How does anyone take this seriously?

bwahahaha

This is far from accredited article.

Wow. Just wow.

I mean, this is like an article talking about bombing China, then people running away with it and how things would work afterwards.

Guess what. They wouldn't work afterwards, not very fucking well.
